There are some people that keep hinting there was more to this trade than Money and BoB relationship with Hopkins. And that Janice McNair had approved this trade personally (not Cal). We just don't know....

Probably not but in reality having a star receiver is not a must to win a super bowl.

I think it's still too early for the "time to move on" rhetoric. It's only been 24 hours since his first game since being traded.

It's time to move on from VY, Clowney and even the Tunsil trade....but not Hopkins. I checked with Clutch and we're still allowed to b**** about that one.

Interestingly a star TE seems to be more important in recent years. Gronk, Kelce, Ertz, Kittle, etc seem to really move the needle on SB teams.

Kingsbury is a much better play-caller than anything the Texans have and Hopkins will possibly lead the league in catches as it's apparent they are going to throw it to him a crap ton. I'll be curious if teams come and press him rather than playing soft as SF did yesterday giving up all of the underneath. Even the 33 yard catch was a 5 yard pass with blown coverage behind. Averaged 9 yard a catch on his other 13 (which is a bunch!) catches.

I don't like the trade, but with seeing the salary raise he received and Hopkins obvious not wanting to play here, I understand it. I did think at one point maybe more speed and not such a focus on one WR might help Deshaun not hold the ball so long. Need a better play-caller to take advantage of these things though. The signing of Cobb in such a deep WR draft class was a bigger head scratcher as that money could have been used on some CB.

Curious to see where Hopkins numbers are to finish the season. Do you all feel he have played this year in Houston under his current contract or forced his way out more publicly? It seems pretty obvious he wasn't happy here.

    Not surprised

    Not even mad

    It is the Texans

I expect it and after years can even laugh at it

Some day Houston will have professional football in the city

idc. regardless if he wasn't happy, we gave him basically for free. watch him go berserk while we struggle with our sht passing game.

For all the negativity surrounding "security blanket" WRs for a QB .. it was interesting to see guys like Devante Adams, DeAndre Hopkins, Adam Thielen and JuJu dominate when everyone knew they would be heavily targeted.

When did the whole "security blanket" thing get such a negative connotation? Sounds more like an excuse teams use when they lose their best WRs...

I guess the 49ers should have traded Jerry Rice after the 87 season. Joe Montana was just using him a a security blanket...

you had me until you said Obvious not wanting to play here. If that were the case he wouldn't be throwing so much passive aggressive shade.
He loved the city. It's like people don't remember the NFL past 10 years, even the most humble have missed a training camp due to contract dispute some even sat out nfl games, then went on to win a superbowl in the same year. Teapot like always took it personally as not being a good teammate and the rest is history. Not a good teammate? The guy is the one holding you back from furthering embarrassing yourself with a fan. First one to say, his teammate Fuller will be a probowler this year and the Deshaun will continue to ball.

thats why I like this place for my football talk .. most of you have a logical comprehension of team building and steer away from the excuse machine.

yup - good QBs typically have a favorite target - go figure - earth shattering revelations being dropped in the Texan board!

what happened for us? We took away an All Pro security blanket and replaced it with a heating pad that only works half the time.

Pittsburgh has replaced their number 1 WR a few times, the Texans will have to do the same. That "Top Target" role has to be filled by someone.

True, so why not make it "someone" of substance and similar in production? You trade your car in for something better right?

I know its only game 1.

I can only pray that the "speed and seperation" that many people lauded appears at some point, but if it doesnt never fear they can always just blame Deshaun Watson!

I think Fuller can fill that role.*

Can anyone guess what that asterisk is for?

Pittsburgh has a head coach that knows Wide Receivers, Mike Tomlin.

BoB doesn't know anything and provides nothing in terms of scouting, talent evaluation, or player development.

Cooks has been successful everywhere else he's been. So yes, Watson deserves some of the blame.
