Why didn't we address this in the off-season? We drafted Greenard. Did he play? Why haven't we signed Clay Matthews or any other pass rusher? Take a flyer on Breeland Speaks. Do something.

This defense will be terrible until we have a pass rush again. This has been a need for multiple years now. Jacob Martin is our best pass rusher. We need three more of him.

This week is not going to be pretty, either.

Greenard did not play due to an ankle injury. He was listed as questionable going into the game.

If you are pinning all your hopes on a 3rd round pick as a rookie...

    Good luck with that.

Jacob Martin had the only sack. JJ was a ghost.

it's all good, we locked up model citizen and locker room guy Whitney Mercilus to a long term deal to shore up the pass rush

What else are we to expect? We don’t have 1st or 2nd round picks and we don’t sign free agents that can.

When you run out guys like Clowney and sign worthless scrubs like Mercilus, needing pass rush is just what you have to expect to happen.

Actually there was pressure and we did blitz, but mahomes got rid of the ball very quickly. Tyreek Hill was open within 2 seconds so no amount of pressure can stop that. We should have lived with potential big plays so we can potentially get turnovers because the way we were playing wasn’t working and we dropped 2 ints.

LOL Paid Cunningham $58M($14.5M/yr), Mercilus $54M($13.5M/yr), McKinney $50M($10M/yr), Roby $31.5M($10.5M/yr), Murray $18M($6M/yr), Watt still cashing them checks
$4.2M dead money from Gipson; $2M from Colvin; not that he's anything special but they cut Angelo Blackson

"Anthony Weaver is going to have an aggressive, attacking defense!" :D

Cunningham, Roby, Murray, and McKinney are not pass rushers. Mercilus and Watt are.

How many sacks did Clowney have last season? 3 1/2. He is not a pass rusher.

Mercilus isn't a viable pass rusher anymore. That's over

Last season with Clowney in the game, Seattle's defense pressures quarterbacks at a rate of 24.6%, with a 4.8% sack rate. Without him, it pressures QBs at a 17.5% rate with a 3.9% sack rate.... Houston sure could use a "non pass rusher" who could make that kind of difference in the pass rush.

Not paying a non pass rusher $17-$20 million to have "pressures", like he wanted.

Every team needs one player (or coach) who gets angry about losing. I mean the "I can't talk to you right now, you caused us the game" type of anger. The "goes straight to the gym to work that anger out after a loss" type of anger. The "I promise I'm going to knock you out if you get another false start" type of anger. The "drop one more pass see what I'm going to do to you" type of anger. The "that missed tackle coming out your paycheck" type of anger.

    Who's that on the Texans?

I’ve set expectations for this team real low.
Just sit back and watch the show.
If we win great, if we lose.... no big deal.
If butt chin gets fired... then we throw a parade!

Paying Clowney 17-20 million is infinitely wiser than paying guys like Cunningham 14.5 million or scrubs like Mercilus 13.5 million. Clowney is a a difference maker on defense and is only slightly more expensive than that worthless garbage that we paid.
