...who are the candidates to buy?

Don't even remember the other suitors when Tillman bought them

I would have considered making a move

but then I looked at where all the team's future picks are

    and for that reason...

    Michael Dell

But, I don't think Tilman will have any problem coming up with the $$$ to see this through.

If I were a buyer......., I have 2 billion cash and a company is worth 1 billion.

The team is worth 1.6 billion because 10 First round picks were traded for cash from 2016 to 2026. Cash is in Lea and Tillman’s wallet.

I want to be as good as Spurs for 20 years.

I can offer 1.8 billion because it’s sellers market.

Young players and picks are the key to success.

Most likely it would be a group that would buy the team and chances are if that occurred it would be WORSE than Tilman

    HOWEVER

if it just so happens we get a single buyer I must say...

Any buyer with the available money and confidence in their financials to purchase the Rockets right now during the corona-virus pandemic will probably be an owner with very deep pockets and that would be a great thing for the Rockets.

"Many groups now have called me and want me involved," Olajuwon, now a Rockets team ambassador, said. "With two of the groups, I'm doing my background check to see if that is a possibility. Just an association would be great.

"I'm still with the organization now. I have a contract with the Rockets, not to be in an ownership position. But if the opportunity opens itself, it will be something great."

No. 361 Leslie Alexander (Rockets), $1.9 billion

McIngvale told KPRC2 Monday afternoon that he is interested in putting a group together to buy the team.

"I was shocked when I heard the announcement. Les has done a great job with the Rockets over the years, so kudos to Les. I've had several people call me wanting to put a group together and try to buy the Rockets, so we're going to try to do that," McIngvale told KPRC2. "I have a long history with Houston sports and the Houston Rockets. It'd be fun to get involved and bring Clutch City back again."

"Last year, they did a great job. Great new coach. James Harden and the other guys, and the addition of Chris Paul, so things look great for the Rockets," he said. "Hopefully a new owner can come in and carry on the great tradition of the Houston Rockets."

    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20109453/dikembe-mutombo-interested-joining-bid-houston-rockets

Basketball Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo says he wants to get into NBA ownership and is looking for partners to join a bid for the Houston Rockets.

"I'm trying to convince some people about trying to buy this team," Mutombo told Houston's Fox 26 Sports. "It's one of the best franchises right now. It's really the right time."

He said he was looking for partners who can "cut the check and they can make me be part of it." He said he has been in contact with potential buyers since Monday, when Leslie Alexander announced he would put the team up for sale after 24 years of ownership.

Mutombo told the television station that "I missed my opportunity" with the Atlanta Hawks, who retired his No. 55 in 2015. They were sold that year to a group headed by billionaire Antony Ressler.

"The Rockets are a great franchise. They have a great team. They've got great coaches, great basketball players, great staff," Mutombo told Fox 26 Sports. "Whoever is coming in, it's not like they're going to have to rebuild it."

After billionaire Les Alexander announced he would sell the Houston Rockets, several names have been suggested as potential buyers.

While many on social media had hoped Houston native Beyoncé would buy the team, Bloomberg now reports the superstar is considering investing in the Rockets. Bloomberg cited unnamed people familiar with the matter, and the report did not include what percentage of the team Beyoncé might buy.

The Rockets and Beyoncé’s representatives at Sony Music Entertainment declined to comment to Bloomberg. Beyoncé’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, and a spokesman for her husband, Jay-Z, did not immediately respond to Bloomberg’s request for comment.

Dan Friedkin, CEO of both Houston-based Gulf States Toyota and the Friedkin Group, is the latest local billionaire to express interest in buying the Houston Rockets.

Friedkin confirmed to Fox 26 that he’s interested in exploring the purchase of the NBA team.

“(Current Rockets owner) Les Alexander has done an outstanding job building a high caliber organization with a winning tradition,” Friedkin said in a statement to Fox 26. “Over the years we have enjoyed a close partnership with the Rockets and Les through Toyota’s naming rights of the arena. As a Rockets fan and Houstonian it would be exciting and a privilege to build on the storied legacy of NBA basketball in this city.”

Friedkin’s Gulf States Toyota one of only two independent distributors of new Toyota vehicles, parts and accessories in the U.S., according to Forbes. It now serves more than 150 Toyota, Scion and Lexus dealerships throughout Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi. According to Forbes, it’s the largest private company in Houston, based on its revenue of $8.8 billion in 2016. The Friedkin Group is its holding company, which also includes hospitality, entertainment, golf and adventure companies.

Forbes ranks Friedkin as the seventh-richest billionaire in Houston— and No. 522 in the world — with a net worth of $3.6 billion. He first ranked on Forbes’ list in 2014, after his father and Gulf States founder, Thomas Friedkin, transferred control of the company to him.

Tilman net worth drop from 4.9 billion to 3.2 billion 3 weeks ago. it means to me Rockets team value is likely drop too.

Current market value is about 1.8 billion, I would guess.

Adam Silver and the other owners would never approve the sale of a franchise to an entity which could decide to stop playing games based on the political winds blowing the wrong way one particular month.

To be honest the circumstances were a different one when Alexander sold.

Everything was dandy between those 2 countries.

You just have to have someone like Joseph Tsai but less wealthy who has the citizenship on board.
