He is saying Harden is a good defender because he is strong.

And yet he is saying to ignore the analytics.

Yet analytics confirm what he is saying..

... That Harden is a top post defender in the NBA.

it's only analytics that gives him props defensively. it's all these eye test videos that are made of his negative moments to create a narrative.

I think he meant to ignore the analysts?

Then he mentioned numbers, so I give up...

People just like to use the word analytics. He got his point across. We are just nitpicking the complement. The Rona got people living in their truth. You love to see it.

Even the casual fans would see he plays defense, especially this short-lived regular season. I wish those others were clueless, they are nothing but haters. You can talk trash about his offense this season, but he has been putting in the effort on the defense this season and he has shown what I didn't know existed.

We know that and I think people who criticise him for his ball watching and his effort - like myself - can distinguish between the two. So both are true: good individual post defender, but prone to bad effort. He’s also not a good perimeter defender. So all round I cannot say he’s this great defender, since there’s more to it than his post defense.

Is argument is backwards. James looks great analytically, typically among the league leaders in steals, deflections and post defense. It's the eye-test that gets him the horrible reputation. James got a pass for along time because he didn't have a teammate that could create his own efficient shot, but now Westbrook is here he doesn't have to have such a historic load to carry on offense. If there are a playoffs, James has no excuses for taking plays off like he has in the past.

So he never says "James Harden is one of the best defenders in the NBA" or anything like that. He is just suggesting that Harden's reputation on defense isn't entirely accurate.

    Misleading thread title.

Ben didn’t say that. James isn’t a good defender, it’s blindness homerism to say so
