The Grizzlies and Rockets have also discussed a trade involving point guard Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss, according to league sources. Houston has been trying to dump Knight’s salary, which is on the books for $15.6 million next season, and will attach a first-round pick to get it done. It’s expected that Memphis would send JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple to the Rockets. The fate of Conley and Gasol comes first, though.

Those are two nice players . But how many firsts would it take to get that done ?

Would we have ammo for anything else ?

How long are temple and greens contracts ?

"have discussed a trade" sounds past tense to me.

The report is that it would be 1 first round pick. Both of these players are expiring contracts.

Ben followed up by posting that Memphis is trying to resolve Conley and Gasol first but that this deal is still open.

Suddenly, fringe NBA player Garrett Temple put together a pretty nice career!

This would be a great deal, I'd much prefer them to Burks because of the positional requirements we have.

Getting two defensive role-players in and getting off Knight's contract for just one 1st if the best we can hope for.

After looking at their stats I'm cool with giving up a first .

But too much more than that is assets not well spent IMO . Green has had a bad season and temple isn't some needle mover ... he's depth . IMO temple is basically Danuel House .

Clearly this isn't new. You keep up with these leaks. How long have we been offering Knight and picks for the Green Temple.

With House, we'd have the Doubled GreenHouse Effect, btw

One thought for Memphis...they're unlikely to keep either of those guys, and so it's a matter of getting really anything for them. Unlike Cleveland, they don't a messy set of books beyond next year. Assuming Gasol is traded (or he opts out and leaves, which is a given at this point it seems), they've only got $70 million on the books next year -- they'd need to add about $20 million anyway (and that's with Chandler Parsons at full fare). They probably don't want any long term deals while in a full on rebuild, so taking on Knight is actually not bad.

If you can convince them there's a chance he's a reclamation project, and he can have value as volume scorer in the market next year, I could see them taking him and a first plus a guy like Hartenstein for Temple/J. Green. Worst case, he's an expiring contract that may have some value if you're willing to take on salary, and there's a chance he actually has value as a Lou Williams-like trade piece

They are trying to move them for assets, so it makes sense for Memphis to be holding on until the deadline for a better offer. I wouldn't be surprised if they have us on hold as their worst acceptable offer for Green/Temple, and we have Cavs on hold for our worst acceptable offer for Burks. Especially with the Conley and Gasol stuff, I dont think the fact that this hasnt happened yet means it wont by the deadline

Since last week. I'm pretty sure this is the deal that David Locke is referencing. He made that comment right after a report came out that were interested in these guys. Memphis just wants to move their big guys first and isn't going to do this deal until that's resolved, probably because they don't know what they would need to package up in any trades.

I'd prefer this to Burks. Can see both of these guys as rotation players for us right now even if neither is perfect.

    I approve.

Green is a big wing that can play SF/PF. Just exactly what we need.

Temple is a savy veteran that can play multiple positions.
