Do you really believe she is going to be supported enough by Democrats to take down Bernie Sanders? Because that is what she is going to have to do to make it out of the first four primaries alive.

I've addressed this before. Yes, Bernie is probably her biggest obstacle. Most people who like Warren, love Bernie. The one avenue she has is that if the DNC donors see that the core voting electorate are overwhelmingly populist in nature, they probably will back the more incremental populist in Warren over Bernie. That is her window imo.

How many people are going to vote for a candidate based on a platform that has the real-world effect of killing jobs, raising taxes and giving control of our economy to multinational organizations?

Seriously, how many people are going to vote for that - among Democrats - as their first choice among maybe 20 or more, when voting in the Democrat presidential primaries?

Just imagine if James Madison was still alive. Imagine how persecuted "Penny Nance from the Concerned Women for America" would be for daring to introduce separation of Church and State... HOW DARE HE... Us Christians are so persecuted!!!

The Evangelical Right has been crying about this crap for decades, and it didn't stop Obama from getting elected twice. The issue those two (Harris & Hirono) are addressing has nothing to do with Christianity, and everything to do with bringing religion into your interpretation of THE LAW as they are on the Senate Judiciary Committee and it is their job to vet Judicial nominees. If the nominee openly practiced Sharia Law, you'd hear the same thing if not 100X louder.

because he's more aligned with the teachings of christ than the Vatican or because he eye rolls shaking hands with fake christians? Little known fact Pope Francis has called out both Trump And Maduro, both of them were offended by the pope's shunning. The church isn't the leader or who one should be looking up to, it's the message of Christ. And some have twisted that message to represent conservatism when in reality Jesus was a radical. You take this new Christ that the religious right has created away from the Gop and the 'bible belt' and what are you left with? It doesn't get more "identity politics" than that.

Let's see, there is a partial government shutdown, a plummeting stock market, rising deficit and debt, multiple "acting" cabinet members, and an ongoing investigation into crimes he is accused of committing... perhaps the clown should focus more on the real problems American is facing (many of his own making) and less on social media?

Unlike many of your heroes, he can apparently do more than one thing at a time.

Too bad. I liked that guy.

Glad to have a governor in. The candidate dreamcasting focuses too much on Senators.

Doesn't really matter. The point of the primary is to decide who your nominee is going to be. If she can't beat Sanders, fine.

    1. I don't think you need to run on Trump hatred. You've got the Never Trumper vote in the bag regardless. Though, I guess in the primary there might be a litmus test regarding how much de-Trumpification you're committed to. But I expect candidates will try to pivot away from this question, only to be dragged back by journalists' fixation on it.
    2. Socialism, yes definitely. Fixing healthcare again, fixing education, fixing the growing wealth disparity, and fixing retirement all sound like good planks to me.
    3. Identity politics probably stays focused mostly on advances for women, but sticks to the basics of just protecting civil rights for racial minorities.
    4. Globalism, yes. Go back to being the leader of the free world. Message focused on reasonable pro-immigration regulation, promotion of international trade, and restoring the US to its role of the arbiter and enforcer of morality in the world (which I don't much care for). Probably comes with a very stern anti-Russia and anti-Saudi stance. Conversely, a condemnation of nationalism as white identity politics.
    5. Climate change is definitely going to be there, though that's probably in the globalism bucket. Probably will include some very foolish policy about giving billions to big nuclear plant owners that'll piss me off.
    6. I think no on Washington outsider. That's Trump's game. I think there can definitely be a lot to be said to play the white knight about Trump Admin corruption, but more along the lines of them thinking the rules don't apply to them and returning to the days of staid civil servants doing things the right way. With the fashion to refuse PAC money we saw with Beto and others, we might see pledges to not take any PAC or dark money in 2020. Continued anti-lobbyist sentiment.
    7. Not hard to play the mature adult in this race. But, I think it will only be half about being not insane like Trump with the other half on leaving behind ideological opposition and returning to a more collegial atmosphere of compromising with the opposition. Not that we'll do that, but we'll say that.
    8. I think fiscal responsibility can also be an issue -- balancing the budget, reducing the deficit, and making taxation more progressive.
    9. Infrastructure might make an appearance. We'll probably be in recession by then, so it could be their purported magic bullet. Of course, you can't do this and fiscal responsibility at the same time.
    10. The negative consequences of Trump's deregulation might make some cameos. Mostly on environmental rollbacks, but maybe also things like consumer protections. More generally we might see appeals to de-politicize or counter-politicize agencies, depending.
    11. With the mass shootings, Democrats will feel compelled to push for some ineffectual half-measure for gun control.
    12. Supreme Court Justice appointments. Roe v. Wade, etc.

Come on man. That's just inappropriate. You made him look like such a fool there he may never recover. He is broken, shattered, a shell of a man now. Are you proud of that? Have you no shame? Have you no decency?!

Julian Castro, the former Mayor of San Antonio, is apparently also going to run. It is not clear to me what his angle might be. If anyone else has a sense of that, please do share.

Julian Castro expected to announce 2020 Democratic presidential bid Jan. 12 in San Antonio

Former San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro is expected to formally launch his bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination Jan. 12 in his hometown. Castro, who also served as secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Obama administration, stopped short of making his bid official in a media advisory Wednesday, just as he did Dec. 12 when he declared that he was establishing an exploratory committee in advance of a campaign.

However, his twin brother, U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro of San Antonio, dropped all pretense during a joint appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."

"I'll speak on his behalf. He's going to run for president," Joaquin Castro said in response to prodding from the late-night comedian. "For the FEC lawyers — he didn't say it. I said it."

Castro is angling for the creepy CG twin loving vote.

He just gets trotted out every few years as the future of the democratic party. He waves, shakes some hands..... fires up Hispanic voters and then is sent back to Elon Musk so they can work on his AI brain wiring.

So you appear to be reasonably comfortable with the broad themes I provided. However, you are rather bearish on the race card. After eight years of Obama and the non-stop race hustling by the Democrat left, and especially the SJW/BLM/Antifa/Maxine Waters/Shiela Jackson Lee/Don Lemon/Etc. types? Really?

And how are they going to run on fiscal responsibility and 'Medicare for All' at the same time? Again, I am having trouble imagining how that might play in the real world.

Also, gun control (read: confiscation)? This is the third rail for Democrats. Or at least it has been. Great for fundraising from the die-hard faithful, but deadly to those with national aspirations.

Anyway, who might champion this list that you have compiled? Can you think of anyone? Clearly, the SJW types like Kamala Harris would be out. But who?
