No. The market did not determine his price. The threat of him signing the qualifying offer and leaving for nothing determined his price.
I guess you're either talking about 3 measly regular season games or you're purposely lying. Because you sure aren't talking about the 7 games we played the Warriors in the playoffs, son. You know, the real important games??????? #FakeNews https://stats.nba.com/players/advan...nType=Playoffs&LastNGames=7&TeamID=1610612745
These important games? https://www.basketball-reference.co...nals-warriors-vs-rockets.html#all_HOUadvanced ORTG: 123 (Highest on team) DRTG: 109 (Highest on team) TS%: 66% (Highest on team) TRB%: 21.3% (Highest on both teams)
Those are individual numbers. His individual offensive rating and defensive rating ESTIMATES. Not the actual team ORTG and DRTG when he was on the floor. The way BR derives his ORTG is to take his individual points divided by estimated possessions used. They use his shots taken plus .44 of his FTA's, plus his turnovers, and they give him half a possession for an offensive rebound putback instead of a full possession. Wala 123 individual ORTG. Same thing defensively. They estimate based on whether they think he is defending the guy that took the shot, and then throw in his defensive turnovers too. That's all individual estimates. Those numbers are meaningless. If you want to know what the team did with him on the floor, look at the chart I gave you. And remember, he's not a defensive difference maker and his offensive is derived from being set up for dunks/layups by Harden/Paul. The ONLY think Capela has going for him is he has developed elite chemistry with Harden and Paul. Let me explain how that works. They get out on the practice court and go through every defensive counter to their PnR sets and their iso sets with Capela weakside. They give each other little signs and a lot of it is automatic adjustments to how the defense is defending the PnR. They've worked through all these sets with Capela and he has memorized them and because he has been on the court so many minutes with them he has developed great feel with them in the PnR. He knows when and where to set every pick and exactly when to slip, dive, and where to slip and dive to depending on the defensive reactions. Now, that is something. It took a lot of work with Harden and Paul to get them all on the same page. And that is exactly why Harden and Paul want to keep him. They DO NOT want to have to develop chemistry with another big. It's more work for them that they've already done with Capela. That"s the only reason why they want him. It's not because he's a great defender, rim protector, and rebounder. He ain't. And we know he can't shoot. It's because they don't want to go through all that training with another big. Capela is not a difference maker on this team. At this point, he's simply a convenience that we are paying $15 million a year for to eat some minutes for us.
So Harden and Paul refuse to acquire better talent because they're lazy? Just like Harden refused to acquire a more talented PG because he's a stat-padding ball-hog .
Nope. Didn't say that. They were very loyal to him. And he was loyal to them. They helped him get $75-90 million to play a game. Harden was not in favor of trading him at any point after Dwight left. And that was a factor. It takes too much to teach all those nuances during the season. But now he's got his money. And he's way overpaid. It's the law of diminishing returns. We need to trade him before his trade value goes completely negative. As you can see we're moving towards more iso. And we're going to move towards more pick'n'pop as soon as we get more shooting to spread the floor.
So they're not lazy, but they don't want to put in the effort to create chemistry with anyone else. Got it. Shout out to Gerald Green for being better than James Harden according to +-, time for Jim to embrace the 6th man once more .
Harden, Paul, and Capela were -22 in 82 minutes played together against the Warriors. Harden and Paul were +10 when they played together and Capela was on the bench against the Warriors.
As much as I like those Jazz players....No. Not unless we changed our defensive scheme. And then I might think about it half a second before saying no. I'm very satisfied that Harden Paul is a championship level backcourt and in the discussion for greatest backcourt of all time.
