WTH? http://www.chron.com/sports/texans/...ing-camp-moving-to-West-Virginia-10920438.php Texans' training camp moving to West Virginia By John McClain, Houston Chronicle Published 10:02 am, Thursday, February 92017 The Texans made it official today that they will move training camp to The Greenbrier at White Sulpur Springs, W.Va. Reports surfaced last week that the Texans were planning to replace New Orleans at The Greenbrier. This is the first time they will not have camp at their Houston Methodist Training Center across the street from NRG Stadium. The dates for training camp and times for practices will be announced later. "We are thrilled with the opportunity to hold training camp at the Greenbrier," general manager Rick Smith said in a statement. "It's a wonderful place, and the facilities and climate combine for an ideal environment as our team trains, bonds and prepares for the 2017 season." Owner Bob McNair said last week that one reason the Texans were moving to West Virginia is because of better weather. The temperature is a lot cooler than in Houston during training camp in August. The Saints were the first team to train at The Greenbrier. They had camp in White Sulphur Springs the last three years. After their contract expired, the Saints didn't renew, and they're expected to move camp back to Louisiana.
Not sure but hearing the Rockets may use the same place for next years training camp from Bullard on 790 right now. Seems like MDA is a member there..
Makes sense, I think a lot of coaches want to create the collegial environment to build chemistry while also make the players more uncomfortable being away from home. Makes them more locked in.
"Uncomfortable" is not the word I'd use when describing what the players will feel at the Greenbrier......
I think only rookies and young players were really impacted. vets got "privileges" to go home and what not. regardless this is totally different and they either will bond or hate each other.
