A reach at best there! But yeah there was some random chatter on the radio about missing a pocket QB but to think it was about Tom Shady is too much! ;)

Dave Erickson defends the whole African American people dying thing:

Counting Artie, Alicia's boyfriend, Matt, and Calvin, the three central deaths on the show so far have been African-American. Was that something you were cognizant of during production? Considering the flagship series has come under fire for similar issues, why did you opt to make those decisions?

When we were writing the pilot, it wasn't something that came up in conversations in the room or with the network. Ultimately, it came down to when we were casting those parts, we didn't know who was going to live, who would die or how those stories would arc out or not arc out. For us, it was about casting that felt reflective of the community and getting the best actor and that was the final determining factor.

There's also possible spoilers and explanations for the episodes ahead so try not to read too far :p

There's no black person in that picture. The show clearly doesn't intend for black characters to live.

As much as they mentioned it in episode 1 I assume it has something to do with the flu shots.

Do we know this is happening in other countries? I can't recall it being talked about. Maybe a biological weapon caused the outbreak?

If it was truly as widespread as they were talking, there's no way you could contain it to one country.

The CDC guy mentions that it was happening in France, and then all communication was lost, and so the implication is that it is a global event.

So, if it is happening world-wide, then it cannot be a biological weapon because it would be difficult to believe it could contaminate the whole world like that in short order.

    The only explanation left is:

    IT'S ZAPPENING!

I don't think the creators even know. Maybe towards the end they will come up with something. But obviously these shows aren't about finding a cure so maybe we will never know. It's probably better that way really.

I'm going to stick with the flu shot or some form of vaccination gone wrong.

Actually watched the first 2 episodes today. Liked it more than I thought. I only actively hate 2 of the characters which is a massive improvement fro the other show. I think this one has more potential

she has lesbian make out scenes in her other show The 100

I watched "Z Nation" Season One as SyFy was airing a marathon as Season Two starts on Friday. I thought I would give it a try because all the seriousness in TWD and FTWD kind of wears on you after a while and the slow moving story lines get kind of old. I needed to go back to just enjoying some zombie fun. At first, I was highly skeptical of "Z Nation" and thought I would turn it off almost as soon as I turned it on. But, I decided to just leave it on a bit and was surprised to find it is pure cheesy, goofy fun...the complete opposite of these serious zombie shows. The characters are likable, the zombies aren't bad and I like the varieties they have presented (e.g. radioactive glowing zombie, pure red eye zombies, half human-half zombie hybrids, etc.), and the story doesn't seem to drag as there is always action going on so it moves quite swiftly. It doesn't take itself seriously at all and presents enough variety to make it watchable. I'm actually looking forward to Season Two given the Season One finale ended in a kind of hilarious way where none of the characters should survive how it ended but, apparently, they all do. The show creators made a point to make it almost a 180 from TWD/FTWD and it kind of works. But, if you are one to examine every little plot hole, can't identify with the pure cheese it is supposed to be, and gripe about blah blah blah, then it may not be for you. I'm going to keep watching it because, for me, it is kind of a breath of fresh air in the genre. It also has DJ Qualls in it as Citizen Z and I like that guy's brand of humor. But, whatever. You do what you want. I know a lot of TWD-ers are trashing the show because they can't stoop to its level. If you think you might want to give it a try, then you can catch Season One on Netflix.
