under strongs rule a guy like joey bosa would have been kicked off the team fsu no matter what the media thinks of them as a program, they get 5 stars because they are loyal to their players
I don't think Locksley is one of his A level recruits. Seemed more like a late throw in after Gentry left to Michigan and Murray didn't pan out. He can probably use the red shirt. I think they are all spot fillers until his first QB catch comes in next year (Buechele).
The game was over after five minutes, the UT players were just clueless under their head coach. This was just repeating the performance in the Texas Bowl last year, which wasted my $300 for our tickets. Could this team be better after each game? I hope so, but do not know.
There's been some very interesting comments from Swoops and Gray regarding Watson and the playcalling. Not a good situation.
I'm not sure why Swoopes is disgruntled since he showed he couldn't do anything. Then again, our o-line was crap for half the game. But Jonathan Gray was very underutilized. As the best RB in the nation when he was recruited, he should've had more touches unless they're worried about his health.
Ahmad Brooks on Longhorn network said he should play Locksley. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Mnxdf-v8C08" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Well then that settles everything They need to keep Lockley redshirted and separate him from this mess. I'm glad Mack blew Swoops's redshirt a few years ago so we are just 2 years away from him being out. Lockley will come in for his 1st year and hopefully compete with freshman Buechele. Strong really needs to get this bunch of freshman to their junior year before we consider firing him. This is his first real class and he was decently close to turning Murray and bringing in Lodge and Mack as a result. I never liked bringing in Strong in the first place and I really don't care about his core values. I care about winning. However, you have to give Strong a chance. He spent last year making subtle shots at the upperclassmen so he is going to live or die on the guys he is bringing in. Also, I think one of the things that actually hurts Texas is that the state is so rich with talent. They can't monopolize on the best like LSU and Alabama do. There are too many options at times and its hard to pinpoint who really is the best. ESPECIALLY since there are 6 different leagues in high school football. Maybe it's 7 now? I don't know if they will ever be able to get the stature back that they once had. Texas A&M has somehow become the football school that you go to in the middle of nowhere and that won't go away. Too bad there aren't anymore (SABAN WANTS TO COME TO TEXAS) posts here anymore. At least those were entertaining.
To be fair, the game was over 5 minutes before it started, or earlier. Yes, there was that 1% chance something different might happen. But it didn't. Zebras don't change their stripes. Swoops is not going to work. It may get better, but it won't get you what you need. Strong's program, if it works at all, will take multiple years to get there. That became clear last season, when there wasn't any kind of real re-energization of the program from the hire. They didn't get that new hire bump. Then there were all the wholesale changes to culture, scheme, etc. Which is understandably what they wanted, but again, without that immediate response on the field, you know it's going to take a while. And the decision to go with Swoops, to start this year, cemented that home. That doesn't mean it's all on Swoops. Different program, different situation, he might have success. But for whatever reason it isn't working. Consider the kid said this after the game: When he was asked why he should remain the starter, Swoopes said, “I feel like that’s up to them. They obviously see something in me they like, whatever it is.” It's just not going to work with him. The coaches need to move on to Heard. be honest and upfront about it. They are looking for leadership and consistency at the QB. without that, they know that 5-7 or 7-6 doesn't really matter. They tried Swoops, now it's time to move on. The benefit of that is (i) it's true, and (ii) it buys them points with the fans.
We were recruiting Locksley heavily before he originally committed to FSU and stayed on him even after Gentry committed. Locksley can definitely use the RS and I like Heard last year, I don't think we will see him this season barring some type of catastrophe at QB.
Can't give the RB a lot of touches when you can't get first downs. The whole thing depends on itself. The Line sucks, the QB sucks, accordingly the whole offense is going to look like garbage and there's not really any part of it that's wholly solveable by solving one small part.

Hopefully they get rid of Watson all together. He's horrible. Strong could have gotten a real offensive coordinator last season, and he gave Watson the job. Terrible.
Once upon a time, I thought Wickline was the offensive coordinator, and he was getting sued b/c he wasn't actually calling plays? Now, he's not even the backup play caller? I don't understand what the f they are doing. This is one lame mess.
Watson might be one of the worst OCs in the country. Norvell may not be anything great, but he should surely be better than Watson. Strong had to make this change and I'm glad he did it now instead of after a few more games.
Why was Norvell fired? OU was a disappointment and laid an egg in their bowl game - Norvell took the blame along with their play caller? It's nice that we promote what OU fires.
Charlie Strong has been a bust so far.....he gets this year, and MAYBE next year - they better start improving and fast. DD
ut and strong seem snake bit and shaken. he better recruit a transcendent talent at QB that can elevate a team. where they can start recruiting well again with some signature wins. everyone keeps moving to austin, except good football players apparently.
We complain about Applewhite, but he made something out of Case McCoy of all people. He also is the OC for Tom Herman, who most find to be one of the best offensive coaches in the country. Clear lesson: you have to match your system to your personnel, not the other way around.
