These twins announcers are making comments like Duffey has already won this ! I'd love more than anything to make them eat crow but the Astros offense is on-existent right now
I know... and those guys I mentioned (who weren't HR hitters) would be perfect for those sorts of situations. Hell, add Adam Everett in there. The swing for it all mentality that encompasses this entire lineup makes those sorts of situational hitting aspects non-existent (although MarGo would be one of those "guys"... and he was one of the culprits that inning). As soon as a hitter realizes he is who he is.... he has more of the ability to focus on making a productive out, rather than go for the all-or-nothign approach.
you can give every advance stats, even the ones that haven't been created, but at the end of breakfast, you still need batters to be able to get a hit when someone is on 3rd base. frustrating.
Are you kidding, right????? 23 homers and 28 steals in 333 at bats, and perfect defense in centerfield His average was not good, but EVERYTHING else was awesome. The average was low, but the OBP was .368 which is very goooood.
what? you mean before we traded for him? he was ridiculous his whole time here. mega-stud the rest of the regular season, on another planet in the playoffs.
I don't consider BA with RISP to be an advanced stat.... but I'm also not sure if it really means a lot.
I agree with you, and helped the team big time on defense at cfer. He was awesome, plus he was a very good person
Just checked BR: as expected, the Stros are the 2nd worst team in the AL in the % of what Elias calls "productive outs" (advancing any runner with 0 outs, driving in a runner with the 2nd out, sac bunts by the pitcher). They are the worst in the AL at driving in a runner from 3rd with less than 2 out.
He has one of the best approaches I've EVER seen... when there's runners on (esp. if they're in scoring position with less than 2 outs).
The reason we are a bad offensive team is average, we are last in average and that reflects with the bad outs and advancing runners. This team is homer or nothing, and is difficult to win that way if you dont have guys like Batista, Encarnacion and Tulo on your team. When your leader has 22 homers, well, you will have a lot of problems in MANY GAMES, and against average pitchers.
