My friend, you are not listening.

I wanted Tucker to play, why??? Look at numbers given on Santana vs lefties this year and last. I wanted Tucker to play DH instead of Gattis.

I wanted BOTH to play, Tucker AND Rasmus.

I gave you numbers on Gattis the last 7 games. Also numbers on Rasmus last 7 games. And we are not even talking about defense, and by the way, the Outfield defense last night cost us the game. (so defense matters, i am not Billy Beane who thinks otherwise).

So i agree with you, Tucker NEEDED to play last night, my point is not that, is why Gattis over Rasmus, can you argue that one???

The answer is very simple to pretty much all your whining: our manager doesn't put any stock into short term hit streaks that are generally statistically insignificant and most likely random - data that is strongly backed by science. The fact that you look at 1-day performances or 1-week performances doesn't mean he does or that he should.

They are probably the same reasons he didn't send McHugh to the minors when you when you whined about him or didn't move Correa in the lineup when he sucked for a week or two.

There are more than one effective ways to manage. Someone not using yours doesn't mean its wrong. You'll be a lot happier if you get used to that fact.

Ok, lets see the WHOLE season.

Tucker and Rasmus have better OPS than Gattis.
Why is Gattis playing so much then? Why not use Tucker a little bit more at DH?
I am not even going to argue Conger's numbers vs righties, he could had DH a little there also.

Now, lets talk the whole season, not only this one but last year, Santana STRUGGLES VS LEFTIES.

Then, why sit 2 lefties and instead play Gattis? What has Gattis done THIS WHOLE YEAR to deserve playing so much? Right now Tukcer's numbers are better!!!!!!!!!!

Lets talk about McHugh, my argument was he was NOT A NUMBER 2 STARTER. And to tell you the truth, right now he is pitching like a number 2 starter, actually, ALL STARTERS are doing that good, even Feldman.

About Correa, i said, give him a day off, you know why? He IS struggling and you have a guy named Marwin who is NOT playing. Do you know that Marwin is htting .299 in his last 30 games???? A .344 ObP, wow, that looks good for a number 2 hitter!!!!!!!!!!

Is that whining??? Or is that logic? Correa is struggling, 20 years, no protection fro the 4th hitter, not used to play so many games in the minors, what is so wrong about giving him a day off? and play Marwin who is hitting like crazy for so long now.

Now, about, about McHugh i look at 1 stat, i look at whips a lot and his is 1.266, which is GREAT for number 4. Right now i see Fiers and McHugh as great number 4, and with K number 1, Kazmir 2 and McCullers 3 we have 5 guys that ARE GREAT at the spot they are in the rotation. Again, GREAT (maybe we could argue that Kazmir is not pitching like a 2, and more like a 3, and i can give you that one, but McCullers is so good that he can move to 2nd and Kazmir to third in the rotation). McHugh and Fiers are pitching so good that we could say they are GREAT number 3 starters also, and we could argue they are number 2 right now. But, at his spot, i have to say he is GREAT. Actually, i am using an even better word for him, MAGNIFICENT. It was all about spot he was in with me. Still i think the whip is a little bit high because he is one pitcher that will not walk many.

I agree with you, but the question continues:

If a starter struggles vs left handed hitters, and you have Tucker and Gattis, who should play on that given day? It is a given that Rasmus should be there, so my question is between Gattis and Tucker only.
If you believe Gattis is so good and should play all games, and you have numbers to prove it, great. If not, then why our manager is not sitting Gattis more? There are other players doing better. The race for the division is very close, can we afford to continue making mistakes on lineups and usage of relievers???

Is that whining? Or legit questions? The problem is that you guys complain about my writing but are unable to prove me wrong, why? Because deep inside you know i am right???
Or maybe you can say, look, i am an astros fan that hate when others talk bad about my team, even if you are right, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT.

Well, if you are like that, ignored me, because i will say the good, the bad and teh ugly about our team.

Lets see what lineup we have TODAY.

Ironic that we were all just waiting to get Springer back, and now he directly costs us a game in one of his first games back.

Before lineups are posted, we all know Springer is not playing today, this is my lineup:

    1. Altuve 2b ( I would use him 4th but we all know is not going to happen)
    2. Gonzalez 1b
    3. Correa SS
    4. Rasmus RF
    5. Lowrie 3b
    6. Gomez cf
    7. Tucker LF
    8. Valbuena DH
    9. Conger C

We need all those lefties in the lineup as the pitcher struggles with them.
Conger needs to play today, as tomorrow we are facing a lefty and it would be a good time for Stassi to play.

I do agree that Tucker should be starting in place of Gattis today. Look at Duffey's splits for Right v Left handers - Lefties kill this guy, batting >.350, while righties struggle at .150. Gattis has also been slightly struggling lately, batting ~.200, I believe, since the NYY series where he was killing it. I definitely would have looked to give him a break this afternoon before a huge 10 game stretch.

Of course now he'll hit a couple homers...I hope!

Let me give numbers BEFORE the game so i make my self clear.

Tucker, vs right handed pitching is hitting .265 with a slugging of .512 and an OPS of .832.

Now, Gattis numbers are .247 with an OPS of .745. Not only Tucker should be playing today over Gattis, but they have him hitting 4th!!!!!!!!!!! Why would Correa see a pitch to hit in this game?

Can Gattis hit 3 homers today and make me eat crow??? Yes, AND I HOPE HE DOES, but, numbers say Tucker should be playing today and not Gattis.

And this is my trouble with Hinch, and when you play 1 run games, this kind of things MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

I want Gattis to be best DH in AL, i want him to hit 40 homers and hit .260, i want him to do not good, GREAT as he is a very nice guy, but the whole year he has not been that good, and Tucker had done better but who plays?????
Yesterday Tucker did good, is he playing today? What has Gattis done lately? What has he done the whole year, a .729 OPS? Are we waiting for the .810 OPS he had last year in Atlanta???

Tucker, in 2 games as DH has hit .600. Yes, only 2 games but he has done good. Why not more games as DH, because of Gattis???? Come on Hinch, i know you can do better.

Now, on the opposite i do like Conger catching today eventough is a day game after a night game, as i expect Stassi catching tomorrow vs A's (if i see Conger tomorrow i will not be happy at all).
I like to see Marwin playing today, but not at the expense of Tucker, it should be Gattis.
I like Valbuena playing today, i think is a good move.

This lineup should score runs today

Kazmir game i want 3 Cfers playing.
    I want Rasmus/Marisnick and Springer.

That game is vs Gray, so is going to be a very low scoring game, we need great defense in all positions.
Kazmir is a fly ball pitcher, and in that ballpark Marisnick could make the difference on a 2 to 1 ball game.

Oakland series we should be able to win 2 out of 3

Legit question for a baseball forum, for an Astros forum.

Or are you one of those guys that fights with other members and dish them instead of talking baseball?

Proof me wrong, proof that you are here to talk baseball.

I've never blocked someone on here before, but man a certain poster can make game day threads downright unreadable.

I mean he goes as far as quoting and responding to himself. Its unbelievable
