Good post. While he didn't have a long reach, Yao did have a huge frame which helped in the post.
Scola was very crafty, a bit like Duncan in that way.

No matter on the court or outside court, he's a player. He only takes the team to the semi final. So actually he doesn't deserve it.

Where's the clip of Yao refusing to be taken out vs the Lakers?

Yao was the reason I became a Rockets fan... Dominated Dwight and other bigs, made Shaq look small, and had a sweeeet shooting touch. I'll choose to remember all the fond memories and good times rather than the injuries and lack of postseason success. He was a class player and person.

I wonder what happened to his interpreter from his first season with us. This is an often overlooked aspect of Yao's success that needs to be addressed.

Probably like many people associated with Yao in his first season: living like a king in China due to huge exposure

11 and 7 points respectively. Yao was not as dominant as people remember. Can you imagine if Dwight scored only 11 and 7 points in a playoff game? The board would crucify him.

The problem was he could be fronted and then the whole team would spend 15 seconds trying to get him the ball. The best guy to get him the ball was Tmac and he was hurt. Yao is a little overrated by this board. He was pretty much unstoppable when he got the ball, but getting him the ball was hard to do.

Yao was such a special talent. I'm proud he wore Rockets red. Wish we could have had a healthy peak Yao with a strong supporting cast for even a couple years.

Colin Pine! I remember I met him at a punk rock show in the offseason before we signed Stromile Swift. He confirmed the rumors Swift was coming to the Rockets and I posted it here and nobody believed me. haha

And even knowing the injuries, I am glad the Rockets selected you with the 1st pick in the 2002 NBA draft.

Yea, this is Yao at his best right here. Some people overrate him here a bit but whatever, he was awesome so who cares.
