A few of these guys will find jobs but.... Kortnei Brown Max Bullough Kurtis Drummond James Ferentz Tevita Finau Kenny Hilliard Charles James Corey Moore Louis Nix III EZ Chandler Worthy A few won't. Texans will have a legit practice squad
We all know the first wave of cuts were and guys I think that are practice squad bound if they clear waivers. Chandler Worthy, WR - Psquad Priority EZ Nwachukwu, WR - Possible Psquad, Still has issues catching. James Ferentz, C - Lacks size/strength, Think he's done. Max Bullough, LB - Played well, but Tuggle is more athletic. Probably won't get Past waivers, but I'd like him back on the Psquad. Damaris Johnson, WR - Speed doesn't translate to game. Gone. Brandon Deaderick, DE - Never did anything, Gone. Kenny Hilliard, RB - Hardnosed Thumper, Can Catch, Developed well. Psquad Priority Louis Nix III, DT - Bad Rookie year with injury, Even worse sophmore year, Can't play. Gone. Matt Feiler, OT - I saw nothing from him. Don' know how the the coaching staff sees him. Corey Moore, S - Has the size and athleticism, Needs season. Psquad if he clears waivers. Kourtnei Brown, LB - Flashed Pass rush ability, Can't hold contain, Poor against the run. Not an option for Psquad. Tevita Finau, DT - Played well, Has ability, needs time. Psquad probably. Todays final cuts; Tony Washington, LB - Didn't see much, No real judgement on him. Charles James II, CB - Numbers game, Definitely gets a job somewhere. Kurtis Drummond, S - Has size and athleticism, Raw, Needs seasoning. Psquad Priority. Lynden Trail, OLB - Like the kid, Just very raw. I'd like him on the Psquad. Fili Moala, DE - Vet, Showed things, guess it wasn't enough. Gone. Dan Pettinato, DE - Works hard, has some ability, Maybe Psquad. Joseph Treadwell, OT - Not enough, Didn't see him much. No idea. My surprises with the 53 man squad as set right now; Polk on the roster. Pretty redundant with him and Grimes being very similar. Maybe roster hold until they make moves later. Keshawn Martin being back. He's been out played by nearly every WR during TC. Has some return game, but hasn't shown it for well over a season. Probable roster spot hold until further action with the roster. Last in depth at his position. Surprised Lamm made the cut. I didn't see anything from him other than outside pressure getting free without any fight. Not sure what they have in store for him. Carlos Thompson making the roster is shocking. He hasn't shown a lot, has pass rush ability, is transitioning from DE to OLB. Was competing with Brown as the 4th OLB, but Brown outplayed him. Might have shown more upside to coaching staff. Really raw for a fourth OLB though. I would have personally kept Bollough over Dent. I like Tuggle a lot, he's doing everything asked of him, and his playing a lot more physical at the line. But Bollough offers more than Dent. I assume they kept him because of his contract. I'm very surprised in the lack of depth across the defensive line. You've only got 2 backups in Pagan and Covington. Pagan has had a nagging injury bug as of late, and while Covington looks like a player, Having such young inexperienced backups is concerning. Especially with the short numbers.
Savage hitting IR is bad for him. What ever the severity of his injury, it's going to s really hinder his growth since he won't be practice until next offseason. He needed much more than mental reps to develop. He's going to have a tough time next year making the roster I feel. Slade hitting IR with his back injury actually hurts the Texans. He was looking like the best backup guard. The guy is really strong and has ideal size, raw, but showed some things. He would have been useful on the roster. IRing him however will at least keep him with the Texans. More than likely makes the squad next year if his injury doesn't hinder him from playing. Ballentine getting hurt again sucks, but keeping him is interesting. His physical abilities are outstanding, far outshines the rest of the group. Probably why he was kept. He needs to get healthy fast, and keep developing. Could be something at the spot, but no one will know if he keeps riding the bench.
I said : Hopkins will have a really hard time to make the pro-bowl considering what kind of QB we are having now. then someone argued : yeah but Josh Gordon made the pro-bowl couple years back with crappy QBs also (including Hoyer), so? I said : Sure, Gordon did make the pro-bowl but other than those crappy QB, that Browns O also have 3 other pro-bowlers, 2 in the O line and a pro bowl TE, are we seeing the Texans current lineup has 3 pro bowlers out of these 2 positions that can help Hopkins to have the similar performance Gordon had 2 years ago? Which one of those are not facts and make no sense?
So Gordon had Hopkins so Hoyer is a pro bowler? Or the Browns needed a kicker so Gordon can be Hopkins with long snapper? 4 pro bowlers = practice squad wtf?? I'm confused too.
I might be the only one but I'm really impressed with the Texans cutting Charles James. They obviously loved him and gave him more attention and compliments. The fact they actually cut him means they are making strictly football decisions. Rolle is a better CB and is a poor man's ball hawk. Makes me feel better about the Kourtney Brown release.
This happens every year on Hard Knocks. They hype up some practice squad scrub(s) for only them to get cut. Who cares, I don't think that much people watch the last episode of Hard Knocks anyways.

Just remember, Waiver claims must be put on the 53 man roster, so most of the guys cut will go unclaimed. Waiver wire deadline is 11am. Practice squad signings can start at 12pm.
The Trail assumption is completely incorrect. He was waiver/injured and most have an injury settlement agreed upon for him to walk. Otherwise, once he clears waivers, he'll be placed on the Texans IR list.
Yup, so he'll most likely be under team control next year giving him one more chance to make the team.

They need all the help they can get on defense. Maybe he'll turn into a pro there, just didn't get it done the way O'brien wanted here.
