Perhaps this is why you blame the team's lack of success on the GM. Maybe if Rick changed his first name to Bob or his initials to B.O.B., he would get less blame ;)

Blue, Sua-Fil'o, CJ, Savage have been worth the value in draft position.

I think Clowney will be a superstar.

I don't think it was a bad draft. Sure, Nix might be a bust. I liked the pick at the time as well.

Based on?....... how they look holding a clipboard?

CJ has played but nothing he's shown has warranted his high 4th round selection yet.. Savage is a 3rd stringer, still... and Sua-Filo can't even get on the field.

That's exactly how I see it... rounds 1-3 should be dedicated to getting *players.* Reach and experiment with rounds 4-7.

Rick Smith is a very well paid management consultant. He has his team of scouts and contract negotiators who synthesize information for the coaching staff. The coaching takes that information and does with it what they want. It's the best way to have longevity in this league and in any business. While we may question if that model is best, it does at least result in our front office not having the acrimony you see in others.

They are likely cutting more than 9 more players, as none of the current OL and OLB options are all that great. Every team is doing an initial release, then holding off on other names to see who else gets dropped plus quantity of certain positions they want against who might be wanting the same thing ahead of them.

But you know, if you don't take chances then fans start complaining about the FO being too conservative. If the "safe" choice fails then people start complaining about how they might as well have taken a chance on somebody with higher upside.

Whether they're taking a chance or playing it safe, all that matters to fans is whether the pick turns out well or not. XSF ans Fido were supposed to be safe picks, but neither of those guys may live up to their draft positions. And if they don't, fans will be just as upset as they are over Nix being a bust.

True, and Covington's good value at 6th somewhat offsets the Nix debacle.

Misses happen, but are acceptable with enough hits.

Rockets play in, by far, the toughest division in sports.

Texans play in one of the easiest and "went to playoffs" based on, Peyton DNPs and Luck's rookie season.
although Colts are some lucky asses for getting said QBs

Something else not enough people are giving the Texans credit for is turning an UDFA into a 6th rounder in only a few months. That's kind of a steal.

    They're cut' in erbody!

Covington looks like Jay Ratliff to me. Ratliff was a 7th.
If Wilfork come's out on passing downs, he could be disruptive early with the focus on Watt.

I wanted Nix on draft day, imma disappoint.

    I'd ask about Montee Ball.

Hopefully. One concern about Covington at NT is his weight and not being that prototypical 315+ lbs. But Ratliff came in at about 285, got to 300+, but usually played around 290 or 295.

Sean Lee is also Mr. Glass. He has had a major injury in a couple of seasons now.
