Hinch:"Well I figured down two, runner on second and no one out. I had to do something. So I pinch hit for two guys with runs batted in. Better yet I pinch hit with two guys that are K factories. After there was a runner on third and only one out I knew Valbuna was the right choice. The guys were split on popup or strikeout. I considered Carter over Valbueba but knew he might walk, didn't want that."
True Neshek has fallen off the past month. Good to have Fields back up as he probably has been our most consistent reliever this season. With Harris and Fields' return, Neshek might need a break from his 8th inning role. And piss poor PH decisions from Hinch. Hope Springer can return to form quickly. He can offset some woes, although Hinch's decision making is worrisome.
Yeah Neshek is a worry in the late innings these days. Let Harris or Fields take on that 8th inning role and see how they do. And as far as Hinch is concerned, I'm not one of his biggest fans. It's a number of things I've given Hinch the side eye about over the course of this season. The team has made a huge turnaround this season and Hinch will get a lot of credit for that but the main driving force behind this team resurgence is the influx of better talent and the evolution of the pitching staff.
Yeah, that was an unbelievable throw by Kemp and they should have been out of the inning with only one run scored. Instead it's ball game. We've got to get a W tomorrow.
It is looking like our playoff chances rest with the remaining 7 games vs the Rangers. They are not going away and the Stros seem to hover around 13 to 14 games above .500 mark. I hope Neshek finds his groove back.
Neshak had 10 appearances in August and gave up runs in 1 of them. I think people might be holding our relievers to impossible standards.
Surprised to hear that. What about Inherited Runners he's allowed to score? And Inherited Runners another pitcher stranded for him? The outing I was mostly thinking was actually July 31st vs ARI... an L for him. But maybe he has pitched better than I remembered.
