Martin? Jason Martin? I highly doubt he is in the top 100. I expect Feliz to be on the top 100 as well
In theory, our farm doesn't even need to be good again any time soon, with the makeup of our big league club. But it's great already, with ample time to keep getting better and produce a constant flow of home-grown big leaguers filing through the organization. This is the sweet spot that clubs like the Cardinals hit that leaves them contending 20 straight years. This franchise is just in ridiculously good shape. Our time was going to come eventually, but never did I think I'd see the day where they'd become this type of franchise.
The current MLB roster has way too many hit or miss hitters, albeit the hits are home run heavy. Position players that are set are Altuve, Correa and Springer. The corner IF and OF, the catcher and DH could stand to be upgraded.
I was factoring the impending group of minor leaguers that should be big leaguers before 2017 into the position players. Reed and Moran/Bregman takes care of the corners in some way or another. The OF is basically set for the immediate future. Then you thrown in the infinitesimal payroll....
What would your comparisons be for Reed? White? Ben Badler of Baseball America said Reed's ceiling is Votto/Goldschmidt. I think his floor is (surpise) Matt Adams. For White, I think a good comparison would be Lyle Overbay. Not standout power numbers, but still a productive 1B nonetheless. Not sure what his ceiling/floor comps would be, but I see some Lyle Overbay in Tyler White
Interesting. I actually thought J.D. Davis was similar to Steve Pierce (high power but low AVG/OBP), although Pierce is 5'11'' and J.D. is 6'3''
Agree, and he did it the right way, building a minor league system. I love the way he has done things, and bringing people other organizations did not wanted: 1. McHugh 2. Harris 3. Fields 4. Sipps 5. Marwin Gonzalez Of course, great drafting. Look at Correa, many said it was not the number 1 pick, well, look at him now. So far, only Appel is the question mark, and i still like him.
This Corpus team is something else. 7-0 after 2 innings. Moran with 2 hits and 2 RBI already and Jon Kemmer continues to mash with an RBI triple. Springer has a double and a walk.
Reed's numbers are ridiculous. Coming into today, he was hitting .346 with 120 RBIs and 109 runs scored in 128 games.
He was put on the DL for the rest of the season a couple weeks ago. I don't know if it was an actual injury, or they just shut him down due to innings. He had reached a 30% increase from last year and he does have a long history of injuries.
