Maybe the bell is like a "bring out your dead" type of plague bell.

    Agreed. Also, potentially deadly.

I just walked out of Kroger a few minutes ago, and I would estimate that 75 percent of the people I saw standing in line had a carton of Blue Bell in their hands.

Additionally, as I was driving after leaving Kroger, I passed a Blue Bell truck in the parking lot of a Walgreens, apparently getting ready to make a delivery. There were people gathered around the driver as he was unloading. I suppose they could have just been chatting him up, but it seems just as likely that they were making sure they got "dibs" on his supply.

Hmm. Are those little listeria addictive?

I'll probably wait 'til more flavors are released since for the time being it's only dutch chocolate, vanilla, and cookies and cream (seeing as the Great Divide is just half vanilla/half dutch choc)... I've waited this long and can go a while longer for my fix.

What other flavors do you even need??? That is the holy trinity.

I like Blue Bell (I guess), but this blind brand-loyalty is just silly to me. I think there are some who actually believe this ice cream is being made by a bunch of nice old ladies in aprons churnin' it up behind the barn.

I'm going to let all these suckers standing in line be the listeria guinea pigs before I go pick up a gallon myself.

    Just bought a Dutch Chocolate.

My brother-in-law the doctor said people are exposed to listeria bacteria every day but very few ever show any signs if infection, mostly just the immuno -compromised.

Besides the safest conditions that exist are where the people are the scaredest of lawsuits. You know they are cleaning and testing everything. This ice cream will probably taste like bleach.

Not really about brand loyalty. It's a bunch of kids who see it being popular on social media and therefore jumping on the bandwagon. They then take pictures and hashtag the **** out of it. At least half of these people prob have not had bluebell in the last 5 years.

Its about loyalty to big time Texas brands as well I think.

Karbach is getting some of that. Like when they just released that BBH Vanilla it was sold out quickly around my parts.

    Texans love homegrown products mayne

Blue Bell has done a good job not only in building their brand, but at linking their brand identity with Texas identity. I'm struggling to think of another brand their size that is as heartland Texan as Blue Bell is. A lot of the support they're getting now I think comes from Texans wanting to support a Texas business. And, I wonder if they'll have lost more ground in Alabama than they do in Texas, because Alabamans won't have that association.

Brand Loyalty or simply a better product/recipe/formula for the price point

I generally like their Homemade Vanilla more than others
    I can tell the difference

Now. . I have some other Vanilla Ice Cream that is pretty good
but . . .If i had to pick . . I go with the one that suits my taste buds best

When BB first came to GA, my parents would drive 45-60 minutes (one-way) to get it on a nearly weekly basis.

10 years ago it genuinely seemed like a much better ice cream, but something changed.
