Very good win against a team that was playing very good baseball. Fiers continues to pitch very good.
Any body else notice Valbuena's slash line in August? .273/.375/.473 http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/players/player/gamelogs/2015/1225749
Its Not a guarantee that Springer comes back at full force, one glance at Lowrie's post wrist injury line has me skeptical.
Yes, I've been saying that for sometime now. His power has gone down but his average and obp has improved. That with his defense makes him an important part in our lineup. Once Springer is ready to play I believe Marwin will play some 1b and Valbuena should play 3b meaning Lowrie to the bench.
The total month looks good, but most of that came from a hot stretch at the start of august. Since August 9th, his OPS is an underwhelming .630. Valbuena has been fairly consistent this year, his OPS has hovered between 675-725 basically all year. He hits righties, struggles against lefties. Even with his slump, Lowrie's OBP is still 27 points higher. Over his current 0-26 slump, Lowrie has put the ball in play 22 out of 26 times, and hasn't gotten a single one to fall in. These things tend to even out. His BABIP is down at .241 now. Just gotta be patient with these things.

Need all of that good pitching to continue for two more months with hopefully, Springer/Castro/Correa/Lowrie all back in form. Looking beyond today, that road trip in the middle of September will determine if this will be a nail biter of a race or if home field advantage can be achieved.
Last night was definitely ruff for Lowrie. Hit the ball well in all 3 ABs I watched, but all where fielders could make a play and did.
Along these lines, we are tied for 1st with the Mets for lowest WHIP in the league at 1.17, and 3rd in ERA (3.29), which is best in the A.L. Also though, we have drooped form 4th to 10th n runs scored.
No Correa yet again. Frustrating but I understand the caution. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Today's <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Astros?src=hash">#Astros</a> lineup for the series finale vs Twins. <a href="https://twitter.com/LMcCullers43">@LMcCullers43</a> gets the start at 1:10 pm CT. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Whiff?src=hash">#Whiff</a> <a href="http://t.co/mKuyF4Lium">pic.twitter.com/mKuyF4Lium</a></p>— Houston Astros (@astros) <a href="https://twitter.com/astros/status/638001260474462208">August 30, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Missing Springer, Correa and now Castro, we are a little beat up. Hope everyone is healthy come October.
What an underwhelming lineup..and the Carter circus continues. Oh well time for our second consecutive road series win!
