Check Toronto... That's all he did up there and when he was utilized he was just as good as when he was a rocket

In that case, I fully accept your stance even though I don't agree with it because it logically follows. Who knows, maybe you end up being the one that is right.

Pretty sure it was the Rockets who backed out of the deal, not Hayes or his camp.

They knew they had Harrell and possibly Terry to take care of but still offered him a deal anyways.

It's just verbal but how hard is it to honor your word, honor your deal? DeAndre Jordan gets cold feet, goes back to LA. Rockets offer then renege on their offer. College recruits "commit" only to switch later. That's not a commitment.

Unsure? Fine. Then don't say you're signing in Dallas, don't offer Chuck Hayes a deal and don't say you've committed to _______ University / University of _______.

[rQUOTEr]“I think when we came up with the agreement, after that point, they had some other activity, the Ty Lawson trade, the Jason Terry signing,” Hayes agent Calvin Andrews said. “That put Chuck in a precarious situation. The result of that squeezed him out of the equation.

“They had some cap stuff they were concerned with. We didn’t get into a lot of details. It’s a tough situation. It’s very disappointing. This is the business. These things happen.

“I commend them for telling us now as opposed to dragging us through camp. We’ll explore if there are other teams interested. He wants to continue to play. There’s multiple teams that want him to join his staff, including the Rockets, if that’s what he wants to do. He wants to continue to play.”

The Rockets officially signed Jason Terry last week and now will turn their attention to signing rookie Montrezl Harrell.

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2015/08/chuck-hayes-passes-on-rockets-offer/#35140101=0[/rQUOTEr]

July 19: Agree to 3-year deal with K.J. McDaniels
    July 20: Acquire Ty Lawson
July 29: Agree to 1-year deal with Chuck Hayes
August 18: Agree to 1-year deal with Jason Terry
August 27: Renege on deal with Chuck Hayes due to financial situation

So what didn't they see coming?

    Didn't see Terry coming back?
Didn't see Harrell playing hard ball/not budging on a deal?

I know, I know: Shut up already! You're making a mountain out of a mole hill about the 15th guy on the roster! blahblahblah

    Good luck Chuck!

This was obviously the right thing to do here. Harrell has a lot more potential and value at their points in their careers. Harrell can be a rotation player when one of either DMo or Jones is traded or signed by another team. We can't afford both of them, but having Harrell on a rookie deal helps us moving forward.

I respect Chuck, but this was obviously the right thing to do for the team going forward.

Got on clutch fans tonight just to get a little laugh out of the folks that would be pissed about this. Same people who would trade anyone on the team for Landry or scola.

    Hard to tell on this.

As many news outlets (even from Chrons) are using the headline like " Hayes passing on the Rockets."

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on...uck-hayes-chooses-not-to-re-sign-with-rockets

And we can check the news earlier when Hayes confirmed he will sign will the Rockets, at that time there are already details mentioned his deal is going to be partially guaranteed only.

I don't really believe Morey's offer changed much but rather Hayes camp did not eventually get the fully guaranteed amount and they believe there are better option out there.

The agent seems to imply that the Rockets took the vet min contract offer off the table. ("getting squeezed out of the equation.")

But the headline of the blog post reads "Chuck Hayes Passes on Rockets' Offer."

And frustratingly, Feigen does not clarify exactly what happened, either. If he doesn't know, I wish he would just write "Hayes' agent would not clarify the specifics of the breakdown..." or something.

Truth is Hayes hates the new sleeves on the jersey's and refuses to wear it.

    Exactly, thank you!

Morey screwed up here and this is not going to sit well with agents and the like and it shouldn't. Proposing a player he can come and coach because you cannot sign him makes it look even worse. Morey has been a master of handling contracts and cap flexibility, but from KJ to Terry to Harrell and to Hayes has been one big failure. We are lucky Terry signed at least.
