It is going to be a long five months, but can't wait! I'm hoping they nail all of the practical effects, which would make other directors and studios think twice about CGI.
It really looks like it's going to be great. The prequels burned us all, but this just looks perfect so far.

Don't think they've ever really said why, but probably has something to do with Disney and JJ clashing over something. Rian Johnson (Looper) is directing 8, and they recently announced that Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) is directing 9. Abrams worked with Lawrence Kasdan to plot out the overall arc of the trilogy though.
