He could've also chickened out considering how much more personally involved you are in a knife attack vs aiming in a direction and pulling a trigger.
How do you know how fast he was? What was the other girl doing? Did the guy injure himself using a knife which happens quite often? Was he a ninja? If the terrorists on United 93 had guns instead of box cutters, do you believe that they would've been overpowered by the other passengers on the plane?
Unfortunately today. Killed 2 people, injured 2 more, looking for the story. NM: He killed one with gun, other with knife and injured 2 more with knife. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/27/police-officer-2-others-shot-in-louisiana-town/
He missed several times....yet still managed to easily kill 2 people in a matter of seconds by simply squeezing his right index finger. As soon as he attacked Ward, Parker would have run for her life. He would've had to chase her down then stab her several times. This is MUCH harder than just pointing a gun and squeezing the trigger. This is really a bizarre argument. Guns are much more dangerous than knives. I can't believe anyone would think any different unless they're just trying to be difficult. If some psycho came into your office right now intent on killing everyone, would you give yourself more of a fighting chance if he had a gun or a knife?
I saw on the news that he called out Alison Parker (he referred to her as Alison Bailey...which Bailey is her middle name) because she said "swing by for lunch". He automatically associated that with a racial slur. That's why she died right there. This guy was a piece of work. You couldn't say anything to him he wouldn't look for as a slight against him. He also mentioned a disappearing and re-appearing watermelon placed strategically in the office. He said he had proof in form of pictures but provided no proof. Best leave the watermelon at home while you are at it. I seriously doubt it even existed and why he would take notice as if it were directed at him...? The more you try to understand it...the more bizarre it gets. That's why I said take a match to it because it's ramblings of a mad man.
That's very true and a real possibility. It takes more guts and depravity to stab someone to death than it is to pull a trigger. Considering what a coward he was, he may not have been able to do it.
Certainly sounds delusional and paranoid. Vast majority of delusional and paranoid people breaking from reality don't turn violent though.
Are we really debating if a gun can kill at a higher rate than a knife? I mean, damn. I can tell you guys for damn sure I'd be able to kill zero people with a knife unless I got lucky...but I can kill with a gun.
That is true but at the same time he was far worse because he had the ability to appear sane enough to qualify for legally purchasing a weapon. And that's what disturbs me the most because there is simply no defense against this type of madness. Just stop to think for a second what could have happened or how many more innocents would have died had he used an AR-15 or some other readily available military style weapon? The fact that such an individual can so easily get ahold of a weapon should give everyone pause.
The killer purchased the two Glock Model 19 handguns from an unnamed Virginia gun dealer last month. According to a letter to ABC News he "put down a deposit for a gun" on June 19, and the background check requirement would not kick in until he actually sought to take possession of the gun, which was in July. Putting money down on firearms is common, especially in the South, says a federal law enforcement official. In the rental car were six magazines of ammo. http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/virginia-tv-shooting/vester-flanagan-bought-gun-legally-virginia-dealer-officials-say-n417136
Nailed it. I wanted to post this as well but did not know how to post youtube videos. I am just waiting for someone to try and didcredit this claiming that he is just a comedian.
I wasn't going to wade into this one, but I have to admit a knife than can shoot more knives would probably be a primo weapon. I think I had a shogun warrior toy or a micronaut or some **** that could do that. But in sum, I think you can ask the knife conflating crowd one question: if knives are so great, why are you worried about gun control? LOL. Just for the variety of armament, right?
Since this is not the D&D I'll try to stop the debate, but these are just embarrassingly simple minded responses, even for this forum.
