So all you have to do is rip up part of the bill of rights and you might make a dent in the murder rate! Awesome. Why stop there?

Chuck the first amendment out of the window and you could probably prevent even more crime by silencing dissent and creating a happier society.

Toss the 4th amendment out of the window and you could monitor people all of the time and pounce on them before they can do anything illegal.

Toss the 5th and 6th amendments out of the window and you can cut through the red tape and throw people immediately in jail and keep them there forever if they are thought to be a danger to society. Lock up all of the potential bad eggs and the murder rate would fall a lot.

Get rid of the 8th amendment and you can come up will all sorts of messed up ways to punish people for their crimes or potential crimes greatly increasing the deterrence factor....very likely dropping crime.

Honestly, let's just get rid of the whole thing in order to create a safer society....amirite?

"One of the better arguments is that 'if you take the guns away, only criminals will have guns'. Not true. When they banned guns in Australia it worked, when they banned guns in England it worked. The Bushmaster gun that the kid used in Sandy Hook you can buy in Walmart for a thousand dollars, it'll be delivered to your house. That same gun in Australia on the black market costs $34,000. Now, if you have $34,000, you don't need to commit crimes, you're a great little saver, keep going!"

The argument that "guns dont kill people, people kill people"...might be one of the dumbest things ever mentioned in human history.

you can say this for everything today vs 20 years. These are the times we live in now where everything is almost instant.

im not downplaying the mental illness aspect but it just seems like such a cop out answer. because nobody ever has a suggestion or solution on how we go about dealing with this mental illness epidemic. defering everything away from guns and putting it all on mental illness is not a solution.

The 2nd Amendment isn't an absolute right. A strict reading of the 2nd Amendment along with the Federalist Papers doesn't rule out the regulation, registration and banning of types of firearms. Further rights such as vote, are already restricted such as regarding felons.

Anyway this might be better discussion for the D&D and could be added onto one of the many threads discussing gun control.

This isn't an either or situation. We should be addressing both. The US definitely needs to address mental health. We should have better ways of identifying those with mental health issues, provide them with proper care and also have better ways to pay for that. At the same time we should be reducing the easy availability to fire arms especially to those who have a history mental illness and violence.

As I've said before though one sign of how ****ed up our society is is that we can't even agree that those who are mentally ill and violent shouldn't be allowed to purchase guns.

Look how you sound. Treating the amendments as some sort of sacred end all be all scripture. The thing is made by man. People like you is why society can't progress.

i agree with you 100% that its not an either/or situation. i just wanted to pick the minds of the people that say this is solely a mental health issue.

He's the type in Elementery school that screamed "no take backs", "finders keepers" all damn day until he got his own way and was left by himself.

Dude probably has a poster of George Wallace in his closet somewhere.

This is what people who would have wanted to keep slavery legal would have sounded like.

I'd like to see white folk give black folk a taste of their own stupid-ass medicine.

Prominent white male athletes. The reactions would be glorious.

This "would've done the same damage with a knife" discussion here is one of the most pathetic things I've dead in a while from gun proponents.

Extremely embarassing to even come up with such a stupid defense, no matter how backed down in a corner you are.

At least admit that the gun was the factor for three deaths here.

Please just stop. Embarrassing post even by your extremely low standards.

    You mean this guy?

Seriously though, it's just the type of misdirection post I've come to expect from BTG except, of course, when he's stereotyping minorities.

Eventually guns will be banned to some extend. Is just that the US is sometimes far behind others, but picks up steam after some hard thinking

Guns won't ever get banned in the US. They will get regulated to some extent but never banned outright.

Basically, this guy appears to be wronged by every person he ever came across. You know he was not right in the head when he perceived every little thing as a grievance or offense against him. One story that I read that came up was he did some news story where cookies were involved. I guess the co-workers decided to make a joke of it and stick some Girl Scout cookie stuff on his monitor as a total joke. It in no way could have been construed as a personal attack or anything like that. A normal person would have found humor in it. Except, he did not laugh. One co-worker was saying you just knew he was going to be an outsider and not a team player based on his reaction.

I had a friend once with a non-diagnosed mental condition. We were at college sitting around at a friend's house playing poker and having a good time. Out of nowhere he claimed that our friend made a derogatory reference against him based on where his family originated from (in this case, his father was Russian). I was right there and I know for a fact nothing was said. But, he wanted to beat our friend up in a fit of rage and we had to drag him away. Then, I had to drive him home and I was having a candid conversation with him on what the hell happened because I was so confused by him. Turns out he was bi-polar. Bi-polar people do these types of things where they invent wrongs. I've seen it in my friend. I've seen it in my Mom. This guy reeks of having had bi-polar disorder imo. One of the reactions is everyone is out to get you...like one big conspiracy...when there is actually no merit to it.
