I wish there was a long, quality read on Appel. Anyone know of one? He seems so good, yet so inconsistent. He's the most baffling prospect.

exactly, maybe we can give Bregman his 1st chance in late 2016. He does not require prolonged minor league stay.

Here's a great write-up on Francis Martes from Fangraphs today.

Nah, Bregman is going to be the new Billy Spiers, the Marwin to the Max...Eric Bruntlett on steroids. 3B/SS/2B/LF/CF/RF/DH

Marwin has helped us a lot, but people forget how good a hitter Spiers was before the back pain was too much. He had back issues in Milwaukee and they almost ruined his career. With the Mets he was almost to the point to retiring. exercises and injections helped him early with the Astros and he responded with nearly a 450 OBP and even with the back getting progressively worse had other really good years... Spiers was really good.

Did not expect Martes to be fat.

He has gained a lot of weight the last few years (literally 30-40 lbs). His weight doesn't concern me, he is a very good athlete that repeats his delivery and has a very easy arm action.

Ben Zobrist is Billy Spiers 2.0, with improved back support (Poopura should have known better). Hoping Bregman and Kemp, if they remain Astros, can turn into productive super utility players as well.

David Paulino (Veras trade) was great tonight as he went 7 scoreless and had 9 strikeouts for Lancaster. Outside of one start he has been exceptional all year, interesting guy to follow going forward (21, 6'7, coming off of TJ).

Bregman has 15 errors in 55 games apparently...can he handle SS? Do you think his bat is going to be better than Altuve?

Seriously, are draftees not allowed to have a grace period before people start complaining about some aspect of his performance?

Yes he should be able to play SS at the MLB level. The quality of infields he is playing on varies greatly. As a hitter it is hard to say whether his bat will be better than Altuve. If he is able to draw walks, it is likely he will be more productive.
