Ummm Qualls has been lights out since he came back from the DL. Maybe if the bats were actually brought to New York, Qualls wouldn't be in a position where a sac fly wins the game. Also, not calling up Tyler White has to be the most anger-inducing decision of Luhnow's tenure. It's pretty much unacceptable at this point.
The Carter thing really can't be overstated at this point. You just can't afford to have him our there anymore. Any other option would be better. Having him out there with Valbuena is even worse. Carter just needs to be done for the year. He has no confidence at all and doesn't even look like a major league baseball player right now.
if some of these characters can't hit I agree ...bring up a couple of these cats like Tyler cuz I'm sure they're hungry. How many games have the Astros lost by 1 game this year on the road?
at the same time let's see how pissed off the astros play tomorrow. See if they can pass this test in the big apple
Luhnow is such a great GM, a genius talent evaluator, and has shown with his moves that he is gunning to win this year. It baffles me why with all the great things that he's done that he had yet to pull the plug on Chris Carter's baseball career. We've given him more than enough chances to succeed, he just flat out cant play. Give his roster spot to somebody that can whether it be Tyler White or AJ Reed (even though I agree he needs more seasoning, he could still be better than what Carter is giving you now! )
i heart the mighty mt this afternoon say something about the astros not releasing carter in fear that another team in our division picks him up and goes bezerk on us. at this point, release him and if he goes bezerks for another team, you just tip your hat and middle finger to carter. I'd like to see what the kids can do at first base. And with lowrie being out, we need some spark. the good in all this...it's only a 6 game road trip.
The fact that this team with the pathetic lineup they have is in first place speaks volumes about their starting pitching and how dominant it has been a big portion of the season now. It doesn't hurt that the rest of the AL West has been mediocre to bad most of the year. I wonder what excuses Hinch will have for the lineup tonight. I know the Yankees pitcher tonight threw 100 mph plus tonight but Astros squandered chances like they usually do. If they aren't hitting the ball out of the park they are squandering scoring opportunities most of the time these days. Just too frustrating. The pitchers literally have to throw no hitters and shutouts to have a chance most of the time with this offense it appears, lol.
Our starting pitching is so good that we have 7 starters that are pitching all equally well at this moment
No it isn't, they are keeping him. People may not like it, but at this point it's obvious they aren't letting him go. Come Sept 1 they will call up somebody else and Carter will likely be glued to the bench for the rest of the year, but they aren't letting him go until the offseason.
This team is hitting roughly .237 for the year. That's the worst team batting average in baseball, folks.
This team was rollin offensively with Springer in the lineup before he got injured by those goons named the Royals. Hopefully he can bring that spark back to the lineup
Only 2 reasons for the loss: Oliver Perez was awful, and pathetic offense. Also, why Carter was playing, well, that one is in Hinch.
