Castro also saved himself, giving up 2 runs by not blocking pitches. Great ,great win! Had to run in the 7th..so happy it turned out this way! What a weekend
Castro! I think I read somewhere that this was the first time this season the Dodgers lost a series in which both Greinke and Kershaw pitched.
Notorious stats, but I still think his wheels overall are an advantage offensively. Adds constant pressure on the defense creating more errors... some cases before he even reaches base.
Mentioned before, Dodgers and Mattingly are a joke... 300 million dollar team trotting out a leadoff man who has a .275 OBP. Our SP has been dominating and I knew we could get at least one bullpen implosion from the Dodgers this series as well. Our team is ridiculously clutch at home this season. Amazing series sweep, but our true test comes next series on the road vs the Yankees.

nitpicking about altuve getting caught seems a little silly at this point, considering he batted .400 in this 10 game home stand. Gordon has been caught stealing 15 times. it happens. Plus, a lot of those steals attempts had to be made, against great defensive catchers, in desperate measures, just for the hope of getting one run when the offense couldn't get 2 consecutive hits to save their lives. Lost in castro's heroics, Lance's outing was stellar after what seemed like a one month layoff.
It's not nit-picking. Altuve has been thrown out trying to advance a base via out, hit or steal, more than any other player in the league. Add in the pickoffs and it is a problem that needs to be worked on. Just because Gordon has been thrown out 15 times, doesn't mean Altuve is a decent baserunner. He is having another good season with the bat and he appears to have improved defensively. That doesn't negate his bad base running.
Dee Gorordon has been picked off 5 times, Altuve 4, a few others 3 times. He is very aggressive on the basepaths and as a coach I wouldn't change a thing. The positives far outweigh the negatives in my opinion.
Was at the no hitter, cant describe how awesome it was being there, especially with my dad who has been a lifelong Astros fan since the Cruz, Scott, Ryan days.
Part of it is an organizational push towards aggressive base running. FWIW, I think he got lucky a lot last year with bad throws to 2B. This year he has actually done a better job of beating good throws when I've been watching.
I don't deny them being aggressive, but Altuve had had a history of being thrown out on the bases either stealing, advancing or being picked off.
You Are right. You can be aggressive but you need to be smart also. He was caught at first vs the Tigers because he was not concentrated as was talking with the first basemen. Now I will tell you that lately he is our best hitter but your comment is right on with reality, hitting great with a lot of improvement with the glove but on the bases, well, let's say he needs improvement so a forum member don't accuse me of been nick picking
