I get it man youre dead broke, and im never angry, you seem angry though. Dont want to back up your talk, its cool. I would give you until midseason too if thats what you wanted hahaha
Wait I'm confused. Are you trying to argue that MLB's list is bad and that he is only using them only because they are the only list with Bregman in the top 50?
Keith Law says hi and other lists didn't include draftees. BA said he would rank in the 20-35 range. No word from Minorleagueball, but he was their top ranked draft prospect (although it was from another writer and not Sickels).
Damn bro you're big time! How bout you find some big time bad ass ballers BBS and leave this shallow pool to us minnows. Whales like you deserve bigger and better platforms. Go get em!
This thread is quickly turning to garbage. Castor will you please put Dankush out of his misery? Came to find out Appel's stat line.. and couldn't thanks to the noise. For those wondering: 4.2IP, 12H, 9R, 6ER, 2BB, 3Ks... youch.
How does a guy with his stuff give up 12 hits in 4.2 innings? I just don't understand what is going on. Whatever it is I am sure it's someone else's fault (it always is).
That Appel line is disappointing. I wonder what Luhnow, et al, have as a reason to say Tyler White isn't ready. Other than not wanting to cut Carter, there's really no other logical reason to not take advantage of a guy who is just absolutely raking right now...at a time when our offense is suffering.
I would imagine it is because he is not on the 40. I think Carter can get us some value in a trade (even if just a couple of lottery tickets), so I doubt they would just cut the guy.
I think there's room on the 40 if they cut some dead weight. Are LJ Hoes or Robbie Grossman in the long term plans? What about Brett Oberholtzer or Straily? The hole at 1B is so glaring right now. Adding someone who is on absolute fire is a risk worth taking right now. I think you call him up now. That gives him 2 weeks to prove himself before Springer comes back. If he's not ready, there's an easy roster move to activate Springer. If he's ready, you've only made the team better.
Because he doesn't want to cut anybody. You hate to just give up on Carter given his 2.5 seasons of decent production, but he is killing this team. He also got such a huge salary for a 1st year arbitration case, that he has to be a non-tender candidate going into his 2nd year of arbitration.
Right now, 25-man roster matters. September 1st, the 40-man roster can come into focus. The team will have to weigh 1 month (and postseason) of White vs. 1 roster spot going into the Rule 5. The problem is we don't know if White will be able to produce. What if he has an adjustment period to the majors? September would be a bad time for that.
Tyler White isn't a Rule 5 candidate, so we would have to use one of our 40 man spots on him if we call him up. At this point I expect Matt Duffy ( who is actually a capable fielder at 1B and 3B) would be up before him. If the Astros planned on cutting Carter it would have happened. We are gonna hold on to him and see if we can get anything for him in the offseason. There are plenty of cuttable guys on the 40 man other than Carter.
I think we'd be lucky to get a butterfinger, a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos, and a Coke for Carter at this juncture.
Right now Carter will not get you anything. In September with the call ups I don't think Carter will play much.
Somebody will trade for Chris Carter. The return will be very small, but somebody will take a flyer on him versus hoping he falls to them on the waiver wire. The Astros have to feel that way to IMO, because there is no other justifiable reason for keeping him on the team right now. He has no role on this team. If Luhnow thinks he can still help us now, then he would make a command decision and "suggest" that Carter play more.
