Kazmir not that sharp but they should have already been out of the inning. Very catchable ball Gomez missed.
Was still hard hit and that followed a bad walk. It all started with the slow grounder to where the 2b would have been sans-shift.
if we score 1 run every other inning we will win it. book it. with 2 outs, gomez froze, plus one terrible pitch up on the count turned into 4 runs. that's beisbol. =/
When your sucking at the plate you got to make that catch. Jake for the most part sucks at the plate too but his defense has helped save some runs.
Ok. But it still would have taken a really good play by a really good CF to get an out on that ball. Still no excuse for the horrible 0-2 pitch to Beckham. Kazmir needs to be better with men on base, regardless of how they got there.
I agree. Kazmir isn't sharp today no doubt. For the most part though Kazmir has done the job since he's been here. Gomez hasn't, that's why to me Gomez doesn't get the same margin of error at this point. Gomez needs to pick it up or its time for him to sit for a while.
He needs to start hitting.... that's for sure. He's made a fair number of elite plays in CF (some of them I wonder if Jake would have made)... but regardless of who is out there on that ball, it would have required a very good play. Kazmir was very good the first two starts but has showed some regression since (partly due to his own fielding errors). No amount of great pitching will make me excuse the quality/location/decision-making behind that 0-2 pitch though. It was a mistake... pitchers will make mistakes... hopefully it doesn't cost them the game.
