So my computer apparently installed windows 10 on it's own (came back to the desk and it was 56% done). Can't seem to play any MP3's or videos....says unsupported format. :/ EDIT: Nevermind...unplugging my headset and replugging it in fixed it...guess it wasn't identifying it.
Yeah just updated it last night, not liking it that much so far. I liked how the app screen was it's own page on the old windows. The Cortana thing my be cool, I just have to learn everything.
Cortana will be a lot better once it sinks with office 365. Currently it doesn't. I have a lot of favorite features, but one that you might not know about is share a onedrive link. Say you put a document in the one drive folder and you want to share it, all you do is right click the file and click share a one drive link, and microsoft builds a link to that file that you can use. Also if you have an anywhere2 mouse or an mx master mouse, the windows 10 task view is amazing. This is not to mention the xbox improvements which are vast. Windows 10 is awesome plain and simple. The thing I also like about microsoft is that programs like command prompt which has been around for YEARS gets improvements.
I've been hibernating my desktop to prevent it updating itself. I'll update whenever I tell you to update, b****!
If the trackpad is logitech, then yeah it sucks. Logitech isn't supporting their trackpads, touchpads, on windows 10 at all. I actually upgraded to the anywhere 2 mouse for a cool $80. It was well worth it for the task view button alone. Here's some more info on the windows 10 command prompt. Read it it's awesome: https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/266908
I like the new upgrade. The volume mixer is a bit wonky though. When I increase the volume as a whole, sometimes the volume playing through a website like Youtube actually goes down. But if I do it manually via the volume mixer it works really well.
The biggest problem with installing updates and restarting my computer without me knowing is that if you are a writer like me and you use word to write documents, a lot of times you want to SAVE your undo history, which isn't possible unless you keep the app open. As soon as you close out word, all of your undo history is lost.
Use a cloud-based writing app that incorporates version control. Google Docs I believe has a rolling save of your document through revisions. Version control is something everyone should incorporate into their workflow. Its as simple as that.
Also having issues with Synaptics touchpad on my Dell laptop. Gestures like scrolling were a mess when it first installed and the best I could get it to is now whenever I re-boot it may or may not load the driver app.
I'm just going to have to get a mouse or separate trackpad. I guess I should wait until they release Windows 10 versions. I don't expect a new Vizio/Synaptics driver for this laptop.
Google Docs is ****. Nobody wants that crap. Word perfect has archived revisions, but then you have to pay for 2 suites which I'm not going to do.
If you want the old Windows 8 app launcher, go to settings and switch it to tablet mode. It's not quite the same as the Windows 8 app launcher but its pretty close.
You can always archive revisions manually lol. Docs is great for the drive integration alone imo. What about writing a VBScript?
