We did a rafting trip out side of Denver with Clear Creek rafting it was great. We also did the Royal Gorge the rapids were a bit more spread out but better sights along the way.
Wow, if I rent and return to avis double tree as opposed to the airport, it saves me like $300ish dollars. Airport bastards!
Just got back last night. I only had one night but had a blast. We went to Lodo (sp?) and 16th street mall. We went to Hopdaddy Burger Bar for dinner thinking it was a local joint but it was an awesome burger. I hit up the fun shop before we left and bought myself a little green treat. Denver is a cool place.
Any recommendations for October visits? What should I be prepped for? I'm guessing water rafting isn't an option this time of year?
There's plenty fun right around downtown. Close to Coors Field is full of bars, lounges, and clubs within a confined area which makes a good atmosphere regardless if you're drinking or not. Other posters have already made good suggestions like exploring the mountains. Colorado is very outdoorsy. The fresh air, clear water and city views are great in the mountains. The temperature change between DEN and the higher elevation is pretty cool too. Enjoy ^^ Great song, and good album <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/e-u2wJm5AAs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
We're going to tour the Pepsi Center when we get there. Other than that, we plan on going to one of the many outdoor areas during the day like Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, etc. In the evening, we're probably going to check out the night life bars/restaurants. Might go check out a Rockies game, they'll be playing the Nats. Other than that, it'll be a fun filled quick 3 day trip.
When I went to Pikes Peak many years ago, it was 99 degrees in Colorado Springs but it was snowing at the top. Also, take your time and move slowly. I made the mistake of defying the rarefied air and pushing myself instead of slowing down like everyone else. Gave me a headache for 3 days.
Absolutely must have a day drinking day downtown/in LoDo Just about the highest concentration of world class breweries in the world just in lodo alone. You can walk and drink at like 10 in an afternoon.
Thanks! Will definitely take heed of this! Don't drink, but maybe my buddy will take advantage of it! No sir, not on my end.
Day 1 has been a success so far! We went to Union Station aka LODO walked into Wynkoop Brewery, then toured the Pepsi Center, followed by eating at Hopdaddy then walking up and down 16th street. We visited a dispensary for the weeds, it was pretty cool, $20/gram though.
The USA equivalent of Tour de France is happening right now, in Colorado per usual. Thursday stage ends in Breckenridge. Friday, the Tour stage is an all-day Time Trial doing an 8 mile loop around the city of Breck--one biker at a time. I will be driving there early Friday morning before the Time Trials starts. I've never witnessed a Pro-event Time Trial before. It will be a crazy exciting event in Breck all day Friday,
