It happens all the time. Teams can get sold on a guy based on past performance and my gut tells me when they sat down and really looked at what the guy has done this year, they thought differently. He's obviously not injured. That was nothing more than an excuse. So what could be the only other reason the Mets pulled out? They obviously decided he wasn't worth what they were giving up for him.
Can you confirm this with an article that mentions that the Mets pulled out because of his season-long funk?
The Mets pulled out of the trade more due to financial reasons... had nothing to do with them being bipolar and allofasudden not wanting Gomez after working for several days/weeks on an agreement to try and get him. That being said, Gomez needs to get more comfortable... he's clearly pressing.
Can you show me an injury that Carlos Gomez is currently suffering from that explains why the Mets pulled out of the trade?
Says the person who is flat-out making things up. Here's the article talking about the "real" reason (money) that the Mets decided to back out. http://www.brewcrewball.com/2015/7/30/9072015/carlos-gomez-brewers-mets-trade-financial-money
Dude, Cespedes is making more money this year than Gomez. No one except Carlos Gomez can convince me we didn't trade for a guy on the downswing of his career. The Mets realized it and pulled out at the last second. We bought into the name and the past stats instead of looking at his current play on the field.
