Luke Gregerson makin you frown and then just when you thought he couldn't be a capable closer... Spoiler
Feldman was impressive, bullpen was exceptional, Oliver Perez gives a new dimension. We walked 6 times and only 6 K's, very good. Defense was solid. Only need is to start hitting with RISP, today it was 0 for 4. We beat a very good pitcher, and we split in a tough ballpark. Again, Feldman was awesome, and in the second half its been that way. If he continues pitching like that, McCullers and VV will be incredible coming out of the bullpen.
Seriously, come on Greg!!! But really, I don't think that it is a stretch to be a bit wary of Gregerson at this point. For every blown save or sketchy end to a game by him, it takes a good 3 to 5 appearances like this one to make me comfortable. He did a great job and I'll be the first one to give him credit. Go Stros!
He was very tough versus 2 great right handed hitters. Belt made good contact but that was a bad matchup. Good to see the last out by Rasmus, he was one of the heroes of the day.
3 out of his 5 blown saves have been in Oakland. So basically, if he's not pitching in Oakland... you should be comfortable.
tough to have an attitude like that with a closer, or else you'll be wary all the time. Which I guess isn't bad, but it feels unnecessary. Aside from the top 3-5 guys in the game or so, they all take their lumps from time to time. (Yes, I've defended him more than others. No, I don't think he's top 10 by any means. But I do think he can get the job done.)
Damn, missed the game thinking it started 9 CST. Been less than a block from BW3 the entire time doing nothing. Oh well, better to miss it and win than watch them lose!
Its just one of those flukey anomalies... At the very least, we are 2-1 in those 3 blown saves there this year.
Tonight his change up is pretty good, now in the 8th probably go to the bullpen, Calhoun, Trout and Pujols.
7 1/3 innings of 1 run, now Jones coming to pitch to Trout and Pujols. Why reserve your closer for the 9th (Robertson) when the 2 best hitters are coming up in the 8th in a 1 run game?
