I'd gladly trade being first in that race...to somewhere in the middle of the pack, if it means we open ourselves up to 20% of the NFL talent pool that was otherwise closed off.

Who would be against this team signing Ray Rice?

I don't understand how we aren't jumping all over him, he'd probably take a league minimum one year contract at this point..

Just make the damn call Rick..

Ray Lewis effing killed a guy, didn't miss a snap.

We have John Cena on the D-line, just take a freaking risk on POTENTIALLY one of the best 2nd backs in the league..

^ What he said. McNair will not allow anyone who has committed domestic violence on the team. Even if that weren't the case, I have trouble believing he would be able to beat out Blue/Polk. The guy was on a SERIOUS decline his last year with the Ravens. Predictions would suggest that he would be on par with Blue's performance last year. A rookie. Who now has had a full offseason within the same system, becoming more mature and stronger. I'd go with the young guy no matter what.

Polk has probably the highest ceiling of all the backs. Grimes is slippery as hell with great vision, and from what I hear Hilliard will punish the hell out of defenders and has soft hands out of the backfield.

I wouldn't expect anyone coming in other than maybe Thomas of these FA crumbs beating out this corp of backs. I think we'll be fine, and then great win Foster returns with all the depth. I think Hilliard makes the team as they develop him and use him on ST. Dude just punishes anyone that tries to make contact.

Fair point, regarding Ray's decline, but I would imagine that he would be coming back into the league in top shape.. He's had a year and a half to work out, without taking an NFL Half-back beating..

I respectfully disagree with you're assessment on our RB core, although i hope you are right. Just seems a little optimistic for some back up running backs on our mediocre team.

I feel like I was the only Houstonian who wasn't impressed with Alfred Blue's game. The man had 3.1 yards a carry behind an above average offensive line. We were flat when Arian wasn't suited up, and personally I liked Grimes better than Blue at times.

Met a lady in Memphis last Saturday who claimed to be his girlfriend. Her friend said she dated some guy on the Titans. Both were solid 8's. Nothing happened, but NFL players likely get cheated on.

Blue wasn't spectacular last season. But compared to Ray Rice's final season, his was statistically better or equal in every facet. I get that Ray hasn't taken a beating in a long time due to his suspension, but he's be out for a while, and it will probably take him a long time to get up to speed with any offense that isn't what he already knew in Baltimore. Even if he were to come here, I wouldn't expect him to be a viable option for at least a few weeks, and by then you've probably got Foster back.

Grimes is completely different to Blue. Smaller and lighter and sort of reminds me of Arian in ways. The guy has good vision, better than Blue based off of last season. From what I heard he's worked on his hands too, has been making plays all camp apparently. I think Blue has ample room for improvement however. From getting injured at LSU and then being burried with depth there and not seeing meaningful snaps hurt his growth. I think last year was a bit of a leap as RB2 for him. He struggled, but I think he'll grow into a solid backup. I do not see him being an RB1 though, at least not until he shows otherwise come game time.

Ben Jones played for the Georgia Bulldogs, I realize the Houston Texans are insignificant, at least get his college right.
