Positive from tonight's ballgame, pitchers only need to pitch 8 innings Well, actually, that is the great thing about this road trip, many 8 inning games for the pitcher, lol
I like Gomez, but I still don't understand the acquisition. Good player, sure. And I'm 100% for moving Phillips and co. for a win-now player. But GoGo doesn't balance our lineup. Luhow hedging power with more power is pretty questionable. Hopefully it pays off. Paint me skeptical that it will work in the playoffs against aces, every night. MadBum and co. aren't going to leave hangers on a reliable basis. Perhaps I'm wrong, and it is sustainable to hope to win a game on one swing, but it seems fluid offenses are the safer (and better) bet.
Lind made more sense but Carlos, if he goes back to his All Star years, with Springer and Correa, wow, that lineup is going to be awesome. Now, we need to cut ties with CC and right now, i am worried about Gattis, he looks awful out there.
Against an elite SP, would do anything in my power to work the AB to get his pitch count up. The lack of plate discipline on this team is so alarming that I do not even trust them to swing at the right first pitch.
When did you start watching baseball? How old are you? Why are you here? What do you think you are adding to the discussion?
He's an upgrade to our previous everyday CF. He's also not an all-or-nothing power guy. As it is, this offense isn't going to make much consistent noise without one of its most talented overall offensive players (Springer). I believe they're scoring almost 2 less runs per game on the road without him (which is pretty drastic).
Triple Gattis. Thank God dude dropped it. We can't hit ishh, then to have a HR robbed... smh Thank God
Bumgarner is throwing strikes... they are swinging at strikes... what do you want them to do? Correa makes solid contact on a 1-0 pitch... Gattis triples (almost HR) on a first pitch strike. Maybe you want a lineup full of David Ortiz-type hitters who know how to foul off strikes that are non-hittable pitches... but that's a trait that is pretty unique and hard to do (and even harder to do against an elite starting pitcher).
You look at a couple of pitches and find yourself down 0-2, 1-2? Then what? Good pitchers, "elite pitchers" like you're talking about, will recognize this and then you end up with a 96 pitch complete game.
definitely. And he's enduring a heavy slump...but has had plenty of moments this year, and hot streaks. I trust that he can come out of it still...way more than I trust anything out of Carter. I hate that we tend to lump them together DAMMIT Jed, not now
Yeah, get all that. He's definitely an upgrade. I do like Gomez and Fiers, perhaps this trade is better judged with Springer in the lineup. I just wonder what else that offer (Phillips/Santana/Hader/Houser) could have fetched.
