If anything, that illustrates an inability to prepare by Riley. The players took a paycut to play in Miami. That's not because of Riley; they wanted to form a super team with Wade in South Beach. We would be crucifying Morey if he did not clear max contract space.
If you count his playing career. But then you have to give Riles another one too. Though I think it's weird that Corrosion is apparently giving the latter two rings for 2005-06.
D'oh. For some reason I just didn't include the 1st Kobe/Shaq 3-peat. He also has one with the Knicks as a player (I guess they probably gave him one for '70, but he didn't play at all that year). Then one in the CBA.
Geez how did Jackson slip my mind .... Oh , I was trying to forget all the times Seattle got in the way of the Rockets dismantling his Bulls. I'd still like to punch Tom Chambers in the face! Jackson had 2 as a player & 11 as a coach .... 0 as an executive. I simply showed that he won 6 as a coach and 3 as a GM and qualified that by saying 8 total (One where he was both President & Coach) rather than 9. He also had one as a player ...
No, Mitch Kupchak is not a great GM. Since taking over in 2000, he has made 2 good trades: the infamous Pau Gasol (then an all-star) for Marc Gasol (then someone who had never played an NBA game) deal, and then the vetoed Pau Gasol + Odom for Chris Paul deal. Kupchak gets credit for talking a couple of bad GMs into agreeing to bad deals. There's nothing else good he has done except tell players that the Lakers are in LA. Meanwhile, the Lakers are the league's worst at analytics and consistently overpay their players.
