Riley is the most overrated figure in the NBA short of David Stern. Always been in a glamour market, where in his resume is a massive coup trade, where is the consistent drafting recording, where is the sherwed perspicaious cap management? Declaring he is a great GM is deterministic.

Lebron is the GM of the team. Lebron wants to win now he doesn't have time for wiggins to grow up.

Tend to agree. Said the same about Mike Brown.

(and Phil Jackson... which is still controversial).

    Morey is easily the best.

And lol at Riley. Send him to Charlotte and see how he does.

Ask him that in person, he'll just show you a bunch of rings. Pretty sure that's the actual goal. You don't get extra credit for showing your work, this isn't middle school anymore.
He'd probably decide to coach for 1-2yrs right off the bat and return them back to the playoffs immediately.

Surprised not everyone is going suicide mode knowing there are better GMS than Morey. Got humbled a bit

You're right, its not middleschool. And as such, you should be able to differentiate the difference between being good and being lucky.

Your analogy is akin to saying someone who won the state lottery is a good business man, because they have lots of money. Both statements are equally stupid.

Riley is a mediocre GM and would not have had the amount of success he has had in different scenarios.

The "bottom line" attitude people adopt, in lieu of critical thinking, is frightfully r****ded.

No, you're wrong. Robert Horry is way better than Charles Barkley.

That team is the very face of Mediocrity. What am I missing?

Luck is certainly part of every great GM's success. However, Riley has assembled a pretty good team in the east that will likely compete with the top in the conference.

This. Morey has assembled a great team on paper that should compete with the top in the league on paper.

Riley sacrificed the next 3-4 years for a mediocre product. Miami is not a contender, so who cares.

There is only six teams that matter I'm the NBA and Miami isn't one of them.

The top GM is right here on the GARM. We all know exactly who he is, even though he's finding it very difficult to trade T. Jones. LOL

Naw great list and D. Morey is right in the thick of things. His hard work will payoff this season when we win the Championship.

Didn't even make the playoffs in the East last season. Maybe Lebron should have won GM of the Year those 4 years?

    Not surprising at all.

You have been arguing with something that hardly exists for years now.

Majority think Morey is one of the best, simple as that. Not gods gift to basketball who does no wrong.

You're ignoring completely that there are multiple ways to win. Who cares which road is traveled. Riley gets it done. Critics are always on him and he always responds with a title. Top 3 basketball mind. Easy.

The list is really good in my opinion. I look at it as the writer was stating which GM has actually got results. Morey gets 4th and we haven't won anything other than the division title last season and a few play-off series. Morey is awesome considering we are in the West, never tanked coming out of T-Mac/Yao injuries, and now the team is in position to take the next step. If we win the title Morey will be given the title as best GM, until then I won't argue. Getting 4th without making a finals appearance is really good to me.

The only thing that stuck out to me was Portland GM, he didn't keep LMA. I have Doc in his spot he got everyone that is key back and added good vets for the bench with playoff experience.

That Harden trade should have cost the OKC GM his job. What an idiot.

The Lakers lost in the Finals in 2003-04, blew up the team, went to the lottery, and were back in the Finals in 2007-08. The only 4 people on both rostesr were Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, Luke Walton, and Brian Cook.
