So, I saw the movie and while it's not 8% bad, it's still pretty awful. Reasons include: lots of illogical decisions by the characters, pacing was awful. But the biggest reason it was bad, is because they're supposed to be THE team / family. Throughout the movie, their roles were basically the Avengers in the first movie - more of less random strangers having to band together to save the world. The final fight scene with Doom lasted for like, 2 minutes. So, again, not 8% bad...more like 15-20% bad lol. Don't waste your money.

Also, the entire cast has that "Jennifer Lawrence before she made it big" aura, in that most of the cast are talented actors, but they could have used a franchise like the Hunger Games or an X-Men type movie to help propel their careers even further. F4 is a nasty blemish on their careers lol. Because the reviews / earnings are so bad, I highly doubt Fox will do a sequel. I'm not even sure Marvel, if given back the property, will want to do a sequel either, because the MCU is winding down.

To have this movie, with such a talented cast, be worse than the Alba/Chiklis movies, is pathetic.

Marvel would reboot, not do a sequel. Marvel will continue to make movies for a long time, they'll just look to move on from the current characters/actors and into new characters.

Yeah, or do a Doctor Doom movie and have F4 as the support characters. Even if Marvel does an F4 movie, I tuink audiences have soured on them for a while now because Fox made them all horrible.

I mistyped - definitely meant reboot.

But even then, I doubt they would do another origin story. It might be better served if the F4 movie already established the teammates as already having powers and being comfortable with them. Marvel is doing this with Spider-Man; no reason they can't do it with F4, should they get the property back.

At most the fantastic four should be partially included in another marvel property. Much like the Hulk, it is hard to make an entire movie for them.

F4 was really what launched marvel comics. I am sure they can find a way to make a decent movie out of it.

Out of 4 tries the best one so far is the fake movie made by Roger Corman. The evidence against there ever being a good one is strong.

I refuse to watch reboots out of principle.

The only way I'll consider it is if they condense all the origins **** to the first 30 mins, and then do a "1 year later" montage or time skip that gives some illusion of chemistry being built.

Not true. They were the first. That is all. FF #1 came out in 1961. Hulk, Spiderman, Thor came out the next year followed by Iron Man, X-Men, Dr. Strange, etc.

I've said this before: Just because the FF were first doesn't make them anything special. They really aren't. They are boring. Back in the 70s, they weren't the favorite comic of any anyone I knew. Not even close. They get way too much credit for nothing.

Haven't seen the movie but I'll take everyone's word for it the production is extremely poor. But, IMO, a big problem is the group is just not very compelling.

If you're really into the Marvel universe... then you know that Fantastic Four has 3 of the most popular and creative characters that mostly focus on the Fantastic Four story line.

Those are: Dr Doom (Marvels equivalent of Lex Luthor, except more badass), Galactus (top 5 most powerful beings in the Marvel universe) & the Silver Surfer (probably top 10 most powerful beings in the Marvel universe).

That being said I just don't understand how you can **** up a franchise 3 times with such strong characters like that... They haven't even touched the Franklin Richards story. Reed Richards is supposedly one of the smartest humans in the universe & you cast Miles ****ing Teller to portray him? Miles "i play the same smartass douchebag in every movie" Teller? I have nothing against him, Whiplash was great, he has potential, yet you throw him in the shark tank & cast him to play an intellectual superhuman? Are you ****ing kidding me? You're going for the Jennifer Lawrence effect? Newsflash, Jennifer Lawrence plays Mystique! A good supporting character, yet she's just a supporting ****ing character. Reed Richards is the MAIN CHARACTER.

Not only that, they took the few things that were good from the first movies & made them worse. Dr. Doom looks like ****ing Bender. Assholes.

Galactus & Silver Surfer are huge to the Infinity War arch & they needed to be introduced in the F4 storyline & now they totally ****ed that up.

This isn't even Green Lantern bad, at least it's hard to make a good Green Lantern movie since most of the characters from that story line are weak. No excuse for this bull****.

You just made a great point unintentionally I think. Rumor is/was that Fox was already talking to Marvel about sending over the license early. Trying to work out a deal that involved movies or X-Men related TV shows. But the general consensus is - why would Marvel even want to touch F4 right now, why not just wait for the license to expire?

Galactus is a great reason why Marvel would be interested. There's your next huge, multi-phase-arching Avengers story. Easiest and most obvious way to trump Thanos.

The problems with the FF is that their Villian outshines them
Doom is DOOM! He is larger and overshadows the FF
which is why they should have started with another villian

Doom's weakness has always been his insecurity about Reed being smarter than he is, so while I agree with you, Doom outshines the F4 based on popularity, power & reputation, he still has a glaring mental Kryptonite that can easily be exposed.

Also forgot, they need to do the Beyonder arch also *facepalm*

Of course . . .but in the story telling . . .. they needed to establish the FF without DOOM around .. . . too many people looking to see what DOOM will do . . . how will he look

I promise you . . .if they had DOOM well and left everything else the same
This movie would have jumped like 50 points

If I'm Fox, I would care more about the FF villains than the FF. Galactus would make an interesting villain for the X-Men. The X-men would be forced to ally themselves temporarily with people hunting them; and it would allow Fox the opportunity to do a backdoor origin story for the FF to relaunch the series without another movie dedicated to their origin.

    You're thinking of Onslaught.
