Tucker has a .945 OPS against RHP this year. He needs to be in the lineup every time we face one.

If Tucker keeps hitting he's gonna play, but I think Gattis is gonna be the one sent to the bench more often than not. Rasmus is also good against righties (although not as good as Tucker) and he isn't a butcher in the outfield.

If Gattis isn't hitting regularly once Springer gets back, I think he's gonna be reduced to starts against lefties and pinch hitting duties.

Don't worry... Springer is not coming back imminently, so till then he most definitely will be.

Hopefully that's enough time to sort out which 2 of three guys should play the most against right-handed pitching between Tucker/Rasmus/Gattis.

While I'm moderately disappointed that the Astros couldn't find a way to get a deal done without involving Brett Phillips, and while I was higher on Domingo Santana than most, I just remind myself of the Astros' tremendous organizational depth at the OF position:

    MLB:
    Carlos Gomez
    George Springer
    Colby Rasmus
    Jake Marisnick
    Preston Tucker

    AAA "Non-Prospects":
    L.J. Hoes
    Alex Presley
    Robbie Grossman
    Leo Heras

    Prospects (w/Astros System Rank):
    Daz Cameron (#3, #62 overall)
    Kyle Tucker (#4, #65 overall)
    Derek Fisher (#9)
    Tony Kemp (#12)
    Teoscar Hernandez (#18)
    Danry Vasquez (#21)
    Andrew Aplin (#24)
    Jason Martin (#27)

The Astros' eventual offer topped New York's; if the Brewers initially chose the Met offer, it likely means the Astros sweetened the pot after New York pulled out, ie finally relented and put Phillips on the table.

I read Phillips being added was what they needed to get Fiers.

Also, I read that the Mets backing out really had more to do with $$$ than it did Gomez' health.

Hell, if there's one thing nobody should question the Astros on... its backing out of a deal due to a "medical issue".

I am guessing that Houser, Hader and Santana only got about 80% of Gomez, but adding Phillips got Fiers and the rest of Gomez.

Would it be out of the question to see Gattis moved in a trade?

Not as much value to a "selling" team looking to rebuild with younger/more versatile guys... if the Astros were sellers, they'd be unloading him for sure to a DH hungry team.

    Fiers isn't going anywhere.

I think it's possible. Not likely "exactly" what sellers would be looking for, but he is just 28 and controlled a few more years. Would think that would have to be to another AL team though, who needs a DH. Maybe a deal for someone none of us have even thought about

    Doubtful, but possible I suppose

Hating this trade. We gave away two top 10 hitting prospects in Phillips and Santana for a guy that has failed to hit for average or power. I'm ready to start booing Carlos Gomez. Guy needs to shut his damn trap and wipe the **** eating grin off of his face until he starts hitting the damn ball.

Happy to be of service. This team's road record sucked before the trade. We've been even worse since. There is something to be said about chemistry, and this team has lost it all.
