If this ain't the GARM, I don't know what is. SMH

A bunch of people who haven't posted much of anything the last few years, show up just in time to complain as if they have seen this for years.

McHugh with 121 pitches today. Kind of a lot for just 6 innings. Shame it didn't work out better for him.

    You must be ignorant then.

If you think my posts are negative overall on this or any forum, you're a blind bat who only sees what he/she wants.

I don't get it. A number of posters like yourself think just because you endured the Astros over the past several years when they were a non-competitive dumpster fire, that gives you the right to be the only ones who can really comment on them. I'm not apologizing for having better things to do with my time then to watch a team/organization over the past several years who were not trying to win or be competitive. The Astros have been a pleasant surprise this year so quite naturally more fans are starting to give a crap about them again. A lot of people who take the time to comment on a message board are very passionate fans so excuse if sometimes within that passion, every post isn't Pollyanna fluff. It's maddening to see the team look like the 27 Yankees at home and then go on the road and look just helpless a lot of the time since April.

How many years does someone need to put in before they can post their opinions? Passionate and crazy fans come with the territory of having a good team. I'm thankful frankly that there's a lot more discussion even if some of it stinks. I can actually tune into sports radio or MLB Network and listen to a bit of Astros talk now and that surely beats the alternative of 100 loss seasons and most everyone not giving a damn. I'm glad I have to use my ignore button sometimes, sign of progress!

And to some of you who are freaking out on an inning by inning basis. Get a damn hold of yourselves. This team is one year removed from laughingstock status. They're learning how to win and there is a learning curve. Let's have some patience or something.

It's not that you've been gone - it's that you all really don't understand baseball very well and are just talking out of your ass.

More people is not always a good thing. GARM has been absolutely ruined compared to 10 or 15 years ago because all it takes is one or two idiots to ruin a thread. More people means more likelihood of one of those idiots coming in.

That's what's happening to the Astros forum now. It's not just when they are good - this form was far better in the 2005 era when they were even better. It's just the sheer volume of people is bringing too many bad posters, which then destroys every thread they participate in. Sort of like Bobby in the Texans forum, except thankfully none of the ones here post quite that much or quite that obnoxiously.

My comment is not specific to Clutchfans either - its true of all forums. Even in real life, having a discussion amongst 5 people is easier than amongst 50, because you'll almost always go down to the lowest common denominator. People refer to the last few years here, not because the team sucked, but because there were far fewer posters and the ones that actually stayed were not the reactionary people who go nuts everytime a player strikes out or gives up a run.

I mentioned this a few days ago...the Astros imo are having to learn REALLY FAST ahead of the 2 year bell curve (they are 2 years ahead of schedule winning this year remember?), due to playing so well this year. Learning how to win on the road is the obvious next step and I personally think that loosing by 1 RUN SOOO MANY TIMES on the road leads me to think it's MENTAL.

Once they get over the mental hump of loosing by 1 Run along with Springer back in the lineup then the rest of the league better Watch Out!

    Yea I have to agree

I don't mind people being pissed on here. I don't mind people speaking their mind.

But it's the comments about the players "not caring"

And the "this game is over" crap in the first inning or two

Those people don't understand the game of baseball, in any way

    This team will be fine.

I agree it's a learning curve but it's also how this team is built. We have a lot of hitters that are always swinging for the upper deck and that works okay over the course of the year but it looks ugly when you consistently can't drive in a guy from third base with less than 2 outs. So Luhnow should get some credit for this as well.

Yeah another obvious good point your making. Swing for the fence, strike out or hit into a double play has been a tough nut to crack. Really not sure how this one gets solved especially when Springer comes back. The irony is they were just about to get on a roll when he got injured. The offense was clicking up to that point.

Gattis needs to be benched, why is Carter on this team, we need bullpen help, what is the cause of our road struggles, these are legitimate points to levy.

    Pathetic, pitiful, and embarrassing.

Yeah, forgive me if I don't think this team meets those standards. Another saying we should be ashamed, and people calling them soft. I really don't mind when people have an opinion on something, but crap like this is why I usually avoid the GARM. It's also something we haven't had to deal with in the last few years.

It's a very young team going through it's first pennant chase. We are still in first yet the new fairweathers act as if the sky is falling.

Anyone that thinks the players don't care is just wrong.

Having said that the Astros have opened themselves to criticism. They are losing games to teams they should beat. They haven't won a series on the road in months. They continue to not have a first baseman, which is just inexcusable. There were first baseman available and they didn't pull the trigger. The Astros have a leadoff hitter that literally no longer walks and they have the magical trio of garbage: Carter/Valbueno/Gattis that whiff on command or swing at anything remotely close to the plate in the case of Gattis.

The front office overall has done very well, and they try hard. The players play hard and want to win, but there is room to criticize the club at this point.

    My favorite.

"In my very biased, uneducated position Harden looked disinterested and as a professional body language reader this troubles me to the point where I don't know if I can trust Harden as a go to guy."

I don't post much in the Astros forum, but I certainly read it just as often as the garm and it's sad to see that level of stupid make its way here.
