Good pickup. Junior Garcia... well, the Junior Garcia who has departed the organization, was the first six-figure international signing under Oz Ocampo. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=br&url=%2Fminors%2Fplayer.cgi%3Fid%3Dgarcia002jun&div=div_standard_pitching"></script>
Necessary move by the Astros. Most of Perez' advanced stats are very solid. He can go an inning or two but as likely to be used against a tough lefty and then pulled. He used to be a fastball-slider-changeup pitcher but he has dumped the changeup. His fastball still sits at 91-92 mph and his slider is 78-80 mph. The slider is mediocre overall but his fastball is very good. Lots of misses and poor contact on the fastball. He throws the fastball about 60% of the time. Don't be shocked if you see the Astros make a run at KRod if he passes through waivers. The Astros would love to dump Feldman and a middling "B" prospect for KRod.
Man I remember him back in Pittsburgh, he looked like he was gonna be a stud. Looking back at his career numbers, he was a terrible starter in all but 2 seasons. He's become a really good reliever though, this is a nice pickup. I'm sure he takes Woj's spot on the roster for now. Means were probably going without a long man for a little while.
