I'm having some people over on Saturday and will be playing bartender. Hitting Spec's on the way home from work with a $200 gift card in tow.

Any suggestions for some unique recipes? Ones that will make me look like I actually know what I'm doing?

I've been on a lemonade (1.5 parts)/grapefruit vodka (1 part) kick lately. Extremely refreshing with this heat.

    Look up:

    Drinks with Lychee in them
    Drinks with Pomegranate liqueur
    Drinks shaken not stirred

And the girls love the sugar-coated rims (that's what she said)

home made mojitos take a little work but are perfect for the weather. throw a big batch in one of those glass beverage dispensers and you are set.

I would suggest testing out a few batches on yourself to get the muddling down and find the right mix for your taste.

A batch of homemade Sangria is a crowd-pleaser in the hot days of August, too.

    DIY 4 Loko

Grab yourself 2 40oz from the corner store.

Couple of redbulls and 2 Watermelon Sodas(kroger brand).

Pour all of it in huge jug and have yourself a good time.

Bourbon and Peach Water (peach flavored soda water)
Fresh Mint Julep ( mint from the herb section, simple syrup)
Coconut Margaritas ( just add a little Coco Lopez to Uncle Dick's)
Bourbon and Vanilla Ice Cream (desert)

We've been doing a big punch bowl of Sangria with fresh fruit at the beach this year. You can drink it all day long. Somebody gave us a Sangria maker where the ice is isolated from the wine so it's cold but not diluted.

I like my vodka with water and lime but this sounds like it goes harddddddd. Mule's and Pimm's Cups seem to be hits generally.

    Brown Derby -
    1.5 part bourbon
1 part fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1/2 part concentrated honey (get organic)

Shake w/ ice in drink shaker and pour in cocktail glass.

    Fresh, crafty, and delicious!

Skyy Pineapple Vodka + Orange Juice + Ginger Ale

I called it the Pineapple Express and it is ****ing delicious.

Gotta be careful with that one though. One time I nearly killed a whole bottle and woke up at 4 AM passed out on my floor.

Great stuff in here, this is just what I was looking for. I will be printing this thread before leaving today!

I tried a little concoction last night that we drank a lot in college called a Bullfrog. Fill blender full of ice, add 1 cup vodka, 2 tablespoons of limeade, then fill the balance of the blender with Sprite.

    Lunchbox

~8 oz beer (lighter beers usually work best)
    ~4 oz orange juice
1 shot of Crown or Amaretto

Drop the shot into the beer/OJ and drink it down. Tastes like a creamsicle or an orange Tootsie Pop.
