I know it could hurt a player to bring him up too soon but I really want to see Moran and Reed at the corners sooner rather than later. I feel like the offense would be borderline unstoppable if they're half as good I think they're gonna be.

Yeah, my point was there are only a handful of aces in the league. Maybe 5-10 tops. Zimmerman has pitched close, but not up to, that echelon, in my opinion.

I forget who on MLB radio said it, but not every team has an ace. The LEAGUE has an ace. All fans marvel at the likes of Kershaw, Felix, Verlander (years past), Halladay, etc. I wouldn't put Zimmerman on an ace list because fans don't clamor to see him. Sure, no doubt he's has been a very good pitcher. Whether he's a #1? There's an argument for it, but its all semantics.

Overall, my point was that I think there is a large gap between a very good 2 vs. a good 3. Maybe there are better examples than Zimmerman for "very good 2". I just hope Appel can get there as opposed to a good 3.

gotcha. I think maybe a good example would be, we hope Appel can become..I don't know, Josh Beckett.. rather than Mark Buehrle (without the longevity, which makes Buehrle more valuable)

Patrick Sandoval making his first start in the GCL. So far, so good. 3IP, 0H, 0BB, 3K. 3-1 GB/FB ratio.

Huh, didn't see that previous one in his career numbers earlier.

The nice thing about pitching prospects, especially at low levels, is that one amazing start generally matters more than an awful start. Glimpses of what a pitcher can do are more important than whether they can do it consistently yet.

    Let's goooo Sandoval.

The MiLB box score days it was Edgardo Sandoval pitching today, not Patrick.

Ariel Ovando (now with the Cubs) has 22Ks in 13.1IP. Rookie Ball, but really freaking impressive debut as a pitcher for a guy who bombed so bad as a hitter.

Apparently they messed up. It was originally Patrick Sandoval.

Jon Kemmer hit his 15th homer for Corpus. It was a 3-run homer in the 1st.

Kevin McCanna, Ralph Garza Jr., and Zac Person just finished off a combined no-hitter for Tri-City. The ValleyCats won 5-0 over Aberdeen.

    McCanna: 4 IP, BB, 5 K
    Garza: 4 IP, 7 K
    Zac Person: IP, save

Garza has struck out 36 in 24.1 innings for the ValleyCats so far. Great start to his pro career.

    Huh, it changed.

Edgardo just turned 19 last month. Not too shabby.

I remember when he use to be the one of the most talked about prospects in our system.

That's what an international $2.5M will regularly buy you, 5 years later you still have nothing.
