Back when there was no expectations/pressure, and they were just having a good time.

Springer coming back will certainly help that as well... not only is he a supreme talent, but he seems like the type of guy who'll be able to keep others loose and laid back.

Very similar to Berkman in that regard... pound for pound the greatest Astros post-season hitter ever, in no small part because he tended to deal with high pressure situations in his own way (i.e. - "relax!")

The problem with you guys is that you take things personal. If we lose, we are going to rant and be pissed at the team. If we win we are going to be happy. Just let people rant, and ignore guys when they are mad AT THE TEAM.
Now, if we are winning, the opposite is going to happen. Just because people get pissed at their teams, does not mean they are (we are) bad fans, we show frustration differently. Allow them to do it without getting mad at them (us).

We are ALL Astros fans. Some people watch the team, and don't get mad, some of us get mad.

Look, we give a lot of time watching, thinking, spending time on OUR team, we have a RIGHT to be pissed when they don't performed. Are we repetitive sometimes? Yes, because it happens again and again, so we continue to repeat what is going for 2 months!!!!!!!!! This is getting to be frustrating, to lose against average teams, pitchers, bullpens for sooooo long.

If a guy don't like Conger, allow them to express themselves, dont get mad with him/them, just let them talk. If they don't offend you, let him talk whatever he wants about HIS TEAM. If we are all astros fan, allow them to talk whatever they want, just ignore things because when we are losing, you are not going to read "intelligent" things you are going to read frustration and rants again and again, and these forums are for that, to talk about everything, baseball things, numbers, but when your team is losing, is fair game to rant over and over and over, UNTIL IT CHANGES AND WE START WINNING AGAIN.

Astros are spoiled with AC comfort and perfect conditions at MMP. Can't play well in anything other than 72 degree conditions. Therefore, they'll win some games in the cool weather of the Bay Area.

I think Tampa was one of their worst road series all year... did they turn up the heat in that awful stadium for that series?

    Carlos Beltran says HI :grin::grin::grin:

Funny thing is someone mentioned Taveras earlier tonight in the game thread, he had a really good postseason for us in 05 himself

Anyone know any place you can find all time postseason stats? I know on mlb.com you can find them year by year, but is there a place you can just see Astros combined individual postseason stats?

I am going to tell you a little story, you guys are fan of the Astros, well, i can say i am the biggest fan of the AStros, you know why??? Because i am not from Houston, so i am an Astros by choice, one that i made 35 years ago, when i saw the team play vs the Mets in the Astrodome. Here in Puerto Rico, the majority of the people are Yankees fan, actually, my father is one of those. For 35 years, how many times we have gone to the World Series? Once. How many playoffs series we won? The first one was thanks To Burke, if i remember, when we beat the Braves. Then Oswalt beat the Cards. I've gone to Houston to see my AStros 4 times in my lifetime, 4 times!!!!!! And guys, Puerto Rico is far from Houston. I even went when we were really really bad 3 years ago.
One time I had the opportunity to talk with Beltran, after the World Series, and we talked baseball for over thirty minutes. When we had the opportunity to listen to games on internet, i missed few games, and now that we can watch them, i see almost all of them.

I think that i deserve to rant ON MY TEAM when they are not performing, because they are geting paid to play baseball, and we SPEND money to watch them play. If they suck, i will say it. If they play good, i will say it. If i am talking with a fan from antoher team, I WILL DEFEND MY TEAM, but when i am on a forum OF MY TEAM, i want to feel with the liberty that i can say WHATEVER I WANT ABOUT MY TEAM. The good, the bad and the ugly, i believe i deserve it.

    Baseball reference has them.

Berkman was great in 2004 AND 2005. While Beltran certainly was on another level, that 2004 lineup was stacked. Berkman essentially carried the 2005 team.

Can't recall Willy T having a really good post-season... in fact I recall the Astros starting Burke over him in CF as he was showing some serious pop in a bat that had high expectations (which he ultimately just wasn't good enough to live up to).

You're right. And maybe the ugly stadium distracted them ;)

Of course he was a supreme competitor... the best usually are. Hell, as fun loving as Springer is... he's the only Astro who's gone ape-**** on an ump all season (some said he needed to "grow up" and not embarrass himself).

Just saying that they're also fun in the dugout, fun in the clubhouse and that sort of stuff does go a long way into easing some of the pressing nature this game can offer.

And this message goes to the poster named the Beard:

This is a forum, don't take things personal, as you call me today a loser. Well my friend, i am not a loser, i studied, i am a lawyer, i have 2 beautiful kids, i watch my son play basketball and enjoy it as i played the sport myself and i've done no harm to anyone in my life, just the opposite. Just because a person rants and gets mad because his team is losing, that does not make that person a loser. Well, maybe we all are because we spend so much time watching our team, but i don't see it that way. This loser follows his winter league team, the Cangrejeros, and this loser once talked with the GM of that team and ask him to please acquire Ramon Castro as we needed a catcher and trade him to Mayaguez for Chepito Muñoz. The GM, Paniagua was a good friend of mine, and you know what? He made the trade, 3 days after that, and you know what? Ramon CAstro hit a homer against Mayaguez to win the championship that year, i was at the game. So, you can call me a loser, that is your prerrogative, i dont take those things personal, and i know if we see each other, we can have a beer and talk baseball, but that is in person, this is a forum, which is different and people act differently.
My only advice is, dont get things personal, and allow people to show their frustration their way, and if you don't show it, great, others like me, do.

I'd have to see it with my own eyes to fully believe it, but, disgusting looking turf aside, I've heard from multiple people that Trop Field is actually a really nice stadium.

Don't foresee myself ever going to Tampa in my life to confirm this though.

Played in all 14 games. Hit .349 with a .869 OPS

Had one less hit than Berkman in the 05 playoffs

Berkman was outstanding both years, no doubt about it

The funny thing about Beltran is when i talked with him did not remember who hit him in the ribs. If a pitcher hits me, especially 2 month before that, i would not forget, lol. I could not remember either, so when i went home i look at it, i believe it was Juan Cruz. He told me he really wanted to stay with the Astros and the wife was not happy with the owner because all they wanted was the no trade clause.

Guys I have just realized something that makes cangjero a lot easier to deal with. He's basically the equivalent of John McClain, if McClain were to post on this board during Texans games. If anyone has seen any of his tweets during football season you know what I'm talking about.

You know the intent is there, they just can't help themselves with the overreactionary post.
