Is Markieff Morris going to be happy coming off the bench? Would the Suns take a Jones for Morris deal?

He won't necessarilly come off the bench. You can have whoever stays (jones/dmo) battle with Morris for the starter position.

Suns normally wouldn't but the situation is toxic and he hasn't spoken to managment since his bro got shiped out and he faces problems with the law. So his value has fallen.
In that sense trading a good pf like Morris who is at a bargain contract(I think 8 per) but has character problems with a young high potential pf like Jones in my opinion wouldn't be bad for the Suns. He also would fit with Len/Chandler in their frontcourt.

Play your heart out TJ and show us you can be a defensive force. Otherwise, definitely not from us.

Yeah, he really would necessarily come off the bench unless the Rockets traded DMo for him, which would be stupid, or Morris out of nowhere became a MUCH better basketball player.

Honestly I think that Jones would be the only PF traded, and it would only happen if Harrell and Dekker were ready to step up and take over the backup PF role. In that instance, you'd probably just want picks for Jones.

If he played more consistently he would definitely get that type of extension, but based off potential and flashes of being a being a starting caliber PF.. You know if Morey offered that kind of extension he has a trade up his sleeve. At this point, I would rather trust Dmo before I go with Jones.

We loose possibly Arian Foster for the year, Clowney's Dad being charged with attempted murder and now TJONES can potentially command 15million?

I know we all hated playoff Jones but there was a 13 game stretch in between the injuries in Feb/March when he averaged 16/10/2 at 53%.

If he stays injury free those kind of numbers would likely be repeated and merit $15m a year.

Didn't Jeremy Lin have a good 16 game stretch?!?

But you're right, if Jones stays uninjured and posts those numbers over a season, then he is probably worth $15m. Whether or not he turns up in the playoffs is another question altogether....

I'd wait on him. Let him post the gaudy numbers, see if he performs in the playoffs, then deal with him via RFA route.

Lol yep but Jones has been more consistent. He came on strong at the end of the 2014 season but the nerve injury derailed him and then had that awesome stretch and then the punctured lung...

We seem to forget when he wasn't injured (or when it wasn't the playoffs:mad:) Jones was a force.

I fully expect him to put up strong numbers and Morey to deal him.

really? And why is that? Markieff Morris is a great player and young too. Only 25. So there's no chance he outplays DMO?

Another very important factor : by trading one rfa you can (somewhat) lower the price of the other remaining rfa, since it will make teams more reluctant to make an offer.
When a team throws around the usual "we will match any offer" it makes suitors think again. But when that team has TWO rfa noone believes it.

As for those clamoring for a contract year perfomance , that is a double edge sword. It can make his price more than 15 per easily.
Jones as he is right now can get a 15 per in the market, if he has a breakout we are talking full max.

Maybe it's just me but unless even DMo gets traded or walks away I'd rather let TJones go for nothing than take in additional salary. Call me crazy but I find 0 difference between a rookie like Montrezl Harrel and Morris. Sure Morris might be slightly better but considering Morris costs 8M PER then I'd take Harrel's 2nd round salary any day of the week. In fact, I'd probably be ok with giving DMo or Tjones 15M and then relying on a vet min like Chuck Hayes, Harrel and another prospect or vet like Christian Wood/Alan Houston/Boozer we don't really need stars at the PF slot if we will be saving cap space for the KD chase.

This is a make or break season for TJ. He's shown he can either be special or worthless for us. At his peak he can be as good as Smith was last year. But he has to get stronger and stop playing scared in pressure moments. That & stay healthy

I would rather chop off my own ballsaq than pay that playoff Houdini act anything close to that. Whatever he is making right now is too much.

Defensive liability. No confidence in his shot. And not to mention he killed a hobo last off season and got away with it.

Yeah, there's no way Morris would outplay DMo. Like none. He would probably outplay Jones, but that doesn't say much.

    The writer expressed a hypothetical.

<<Terrence Jones and Donatas Motiejunas: These might be the two most intriguing players of this whole lot. Jones has barely logged 3,000 minutes over three seasons, but he has the potential to be the most versatile non–Anthony Davis two-way player from this draft class — especially if that languid 3-point stroke morphs into a reliable weapon. Would it be insane for Jones to hold out for at least $15 million per season? Probably not, even though he would likely be the least accomplished player ever to sign an extension that pricey. Would it even be insane for Houston GM Daryl Morey to accept that kind of deal? No one really knows, but Jones’s team will begin extension talks at an eye-popping number.>>

James Harden could ask to take the minimum next year.

Here's to hoping he could possibly create that type of value next season!,

It's going to be interesting come February. It's unlikely that we could get value for Jones, in terms of talent, at the deadline- and trading for a pick or a young guy doesn't help us win this season.

Of course, if a guy like Harrell ends up contributing right away, you can trade away Jones (who, despite his inconsistencies, is a pretty solid player to have coming off the bench as a 7th or 8th man). But, if Harrell ends up with a one year deal (which is possible) than you have the possibility of losing both guys.

I say, if Jones is playing in the middle, you trade him. If he's playing one extreme or the other, you keep him. If he plays piss poor in February, we keep him and either re-sign him cheap in the offseason or let him walk. If he plays really, really well (like, to the point that he could make or break our postseason if he wasn't on the team) then you keep him, because you don't want to give up talent when you're a contender who's a lucky break away from a ring- even if that means overpaying a guy or letting walk with nothing in return.

Following that advice, I predict he'll have an alright season, and we'll trade him for a draft pick and a vet on an expiring contract- with the FO hoping that McDaniels or Harrell or Dekker can take his role in the rotation.

TL;DR- it all really depends how well he plays as to what we should do.
