Everybody is skipping the line, however there are reasons to wait. 1st, you can't do a clean install with the media creation tool iso. #2, one of the reasons that you may not have gotten the notification is that your computer might have a less than great experience because of your setup and they want to make sure that when you get windows 10 that it is a solid version for you.

I think that Microsoft did a poor job at explaining the wave scenario to the general public and everybody was expecting to get windows 10 on the 29th. From what I've learned, the first people to get windows 10 were the beta testers, and Microsoft is trying to use them to iron out the kinks in the software BEFORE it ramps up the distribution.

There are already 14 million Windows 10 users, there were only about 2 million in the beta. It wasn't just beta testers.

I didn't mean that ONLY the beta testers got it. But they were the FIRST people to get the notification.

Actually, I'm reading reports that there were between 4-5 million insiders, albeit others stuck on old builds (pre 10240). Still, that means 9 million people updated to Windows 10 in 2 days that were not insiders or beta testers. That's impressive.

Got mine by doing the force download hack. Then did a fresh install. I like it so far. Like any other OS it takes a little time to get things like I want them. Getting rid of that white title bar was first on my list.

Any of you guys running whole disk encryption with TrueCrypt? Did you just unencrypt the disk and then upgrade to 10? If so, are you just going with BitLocker for encryption?

I got it on the first night. No notification either. Not that I saw. I miss my Windows phone. Screw you Sprint.

    I wasn't a beta tester either.

Still asking me to activate Windows 10 even though I came from Windows 7; called Microsoft and they told me it's their servers and not me and to call them in 48 hours. Anyone having the same issue?

It took working through three update errors (having to re-download win10 each time) and making a new registry entry to get it installed. But just using it for two days I already can see it's a significant improvement over win8. Really awful install process, but nice OS.

I went ahead and upgraded. The only issue I had was with it changing my default audio driver to something else from the SoundBlaster, but I just switched that back manually. Oh, and also, if you're running Kaspersky Internet Security v15, it has some issues with the start menu, like pinning and unpinning tiles wasn't working. I upgraded to v16 for free and that fixed that from the looks of it. Lastly, I could no longer save or delete games from Galactic Civilizations III (Steam). I'm still testing a workaround for this. Running Steam as Administrator for some reason works, but it stopped working again after rebooting... nothing like playing a game for 30 minutes and finding out you can't save anything. *sigh*

Upgraded my system and love it. This is what Windows 8 was supposed to be. Thinking about putting it on my macbook. Can't stand OS X windows management.

Hey, for those of you waiting for the windows update bubble: you might want to physically check the windows update center.

I happened to do this today, and saw that my update to windows 10 was there, even though the little windows icon had not changed.

    It's worth a shot.

I ended up going back to W7. I had a few irritating bugs here and there under W10 and would rather wait until things get ironed out more. I'll give it a few months I am thking then will try again.

Overall though, I loved the new system other than the intrusive privacy requests. Luckily there is a lot of information on how to fix that
