And what does that accomplish? It's not like the team is tuning him out or not performing or whatever else. They seem to be doing just fine under his leadership methods.

My feeling going into the road trip was we go 5-3. Rangers, we win series 2-1 A's, we win series 2-1 SF, split series 1-1 So a loss tonight doesn't derail my projection. We need the next two though.
Well that is one way to limit his innings..... From best rookie pitcher in the league to a plane ticket to smoke weed with Singleton in a bed bug infested apartment.
They are managing his innings. You don't want to do it while he's dominating, so now's a good time to give him a break. This is the only way to keep him away from inning limits as the playoffs approach. Odd that they bring up Straily though instead of just bringing back VV.
We all knew he'd be missing a start or 2 somewhere, this shouldn't shock anybody. Not sure why they're bringing Strailly up though and not just going with the 5 they have. May have something to do with the 2 off days sandwiched around the 2 game series in SF.
I wonder if they'll even have him report to the minor league team. I would think they would just option him and tell him to take a few weeks off.
I think it would raise the moral even more if he had the team's back a little more. He just seems like too much of a doormat/nice guy at times. The ump needed an earful tonight to wake his blind ass up. Make him think about the poor job he was doing calling balls and strikes.
That's the theory - but the team doesn't have a morale problem. They all seem to love playing and have a great time. I don't think every manager has to be the same - the team seems to respond really well to Hinch and whatever he is doing.
Wish they could just make up a reason to put him on the DL for so he can stay with the big league club.
You don't think a team will play harder for a manager that has their back with a little emotion? This game isn't the exception it's a trend. If the team takes on the persona of the manager then they have no fight, no chance in the playoffs.
I may be wrong, but I think it's required. Velasquez reported when he was sent down right before the break, and he was never going to pitch there.
