I am glad our minor league system was not gutted like the Blue Jays. Appel can continue to build his value for next year.
Just for Buck, Francis Martes has most likely made the biggest leap up McDaniels's prospect list into the Top 100.
Elieser Hernandez so far tonight for QC. 6IP 3H 0R 1BB 6Ks Just turned 20. 5 walks in 38.1 innings with 50 strikeouts this year between Tri-City and Quad Cities.
Well, holding him down through a couple of different parts of next year would push back Arbitration and Free Agency a year But I think we are past that point For the record, Luhnow said a couple of weeks ago we wouldn't see him this year, but as with anything else, that could always change
He's always had contact issues, if you believe the scouting reports. More recently though, prospect writers that have seen him have said he has one of the most advanced approaches in all of the minors. He takes gets into a hitters' count, and then he mashes hitters' pitches. The other encouraging thing about Reed is that, although big and slow, he apparently has great hands. He should be a capable first baseman.

Tough intro to pro ball for Patrick Sandoval, who is currently with the GCL club. He went 2 innings and allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits and struck out 3.
Hector Roa has 2 homers in his first game back with Tri-City. He had 6 with Greeneville after he was sent down. Roa's shown some power in the short-season leagues, although that has come with poor plate discipline.
Tucker and Daz are both 2-3 right now. Osvaldo Duarte's homer to begin the 3rd inning was the catalyst for a 7-run frame for Greeneville.
Ralph Garza Jr. now has 29 strikeouts in 20.1 innings for Tri-City. He had 4 in 3 innings tonight. He was the Astros' 26th-round selection out of OU this past June.
Those are their best games on the year, and they happened immediately after being promoted. Strange, but good to see nonetheless.
