We have a great team now, right? I'm going to the game tonight, but if I didn't, I could go ahead and watch on TV, right? Please tell me it is 2015
What had Jim Crane done to improve the Astros attendance this year with such a great team in terms of performance on the fields and also definitely the best story in the MLB this year? Last time I checked, the Astros is still at 24-25th in attendance for this season. I am amused that you are picking on words like 'is' and 'was' and whether the source is coming from a blog or ESPN or whatever but just never willing to accept those are facts.
Btw, since you want to talk about credibility, didn't someone from previous page laughing at me for bringing up the history of the Astros from jus the last few years? The funny thing is, for all the major sports in this country, baseball is the no. 1 sport that will value the history of the game, the players and the team the most. Oh the irony.

So you're telling me that if your life long dream was owning a major league team but you weren't going to be allowed to without switching leagues, you would say no? The man didn't have a choice and still got money out of the deal which he then put into the baseball ops, community, and improvements at the stadium. The man also has investors who expect returns so it would be dumb of him to try to alienate the fan base. He also realized correctly that Postolos was an asshat and replaced him with Reid Ryan who every time I have come across him seems to be a genuinely good person. Not sure where your beef is coming from but this team is on the rebound and attendance is improving.
You're implying that Crane had nothing to do at all with the Astros' success this year, and they have magically become the best story in MLB because they just felt like it. So rather than Crane helping to bring about and facilitate the team's success, no matter how involved directly he is, the roles are reversed--the Astros' have come into their own and now forced Crane's hand to run the business better...ok. At least you've dropped the whole running-the-business-poorly-now argument I guess. And if you still don't understand why attendance hasn't skyrocketed from 24th-25th to top 5 in the span of half a season, then look back over the pages in this thread. And yes I pick on the words 'is' and 'was' because I have a firm grasp on the English language.
Well I think you are confused what this thread is about. This thread is about one thing, which is attendance. And in the past few years since Jim Crane bought the team, and as currently also, the attendance of this team sucks. I am just pointing out the facts which are some of the reasons why this happened. Now regarding whether he has any option to move the team to AL or not, or is that what actually he want to do to harm his team's value, is not really the point. Its a fact that it happened, and its a fact that he did not do much in the last few year to repair the damage - as reflected by the attendance. Of course the team's performance is the main key, we all know that. But other than just the move from NL to AL, like I mentioned, he did other things also which definitely not helping this team to get more fans. Of course, being a successful businessman, I think it will be nonsense to say he did it on purpose to damage the value of his team and fan base. But it doesn't mean it never happened.
Funny at the end you still want to claim a moral victory about me dropping "the whole running-the-business-poorly-now argument" thing. While on the other hand, you still have no idea what this thread is about : the attendance. In fact, the more you bought up the success of the Astros this season, the worse it show how the business had been operated this season on the attendance side. But I do appreciate the English lesson though, I like to learn something every time from any discussion, even when it will be a pointless one.
Not sure how long you have followed the Astros, but you definitely can check what fans were saying when Jim Crane bought the team several years ago, or better yet, check what the fans said about uncle Drayton. The truth is out there, its just a matter whether you want to see it or not.
Been here all along, didn't go away during the rebuilt like most I'm aware Why would I want to waller around in sorrow when I can enjoy the team I love being dominant?
This is the end of the road for people talking crap about the Astros, so they have to try and get in some quick pot shots. The team is excellent, appears to be set to be great for a while, and the attendance is starting to spike. Come here and talk about the poor attendance while they still can, because it's the last thing they can talk about. As one of the ones who stuck it out, I'm really enjoying watching the haters panic.
I totally agree. Its actually waste of time to beat the dead horse. So why would some posters here will feel so offensive with what had actually happened? You know what, if somehow the Astros will miss the playoff, I bet you will see much more nasty things here to say about Crane which has nothing to do with him actually. And those could be the one that actually defending Crane on everything now.
I don't think that question is one you should be asking me. Forget Drayton McLane for a minute here. What has Jim Crane done to further damage the fan base in the year 2015, as you've claimed he's done? What, did you think that everyone was going to magically reappear at the stadium again?
Wrong, just a different fan but fan nonetheless. I'd love for you to tell the thousands of families sitting around me last night they're not real fans!!! btw..., Crane and the Astros would disagree with you and Nick. Also, since when did the Astros become some super elite fan only team?!?! Don't be jealous that folks are coming back to the Astros now that they're winning.
This made me laugh. We all obviously know that you haven't followed the Astros or their minor league system until they started winning this year. Spoiler
