Good job Astros. They got an ace in Kasmir (a rental), a gold glove / all star CF in Gomez, and a legitimate #4 rotation pitcher in Fier. McCullers and Velasquez including their agent are a lot happier.

I'm interested to see, if leaked, what the Padres and Reds were asking for. Most likely Reed + VV + A couple of other talented prospects.
Wouldn't surprise if they asked for Correa too especially if Jocketty was being the king douche he can be.

As much as I wanted a flamethrower for the bullpen, I think we need Reed and it's too early to give up on Appel. I know he hasn't been good so far, but I still have hope he'll turn it around. I think our bullpen is good enough as is and may even benefit from someone like Velaquez or the TCU kid helping out come playoff time.
I know people wanted to make a move, but man...I love our roster right now. The extra reason to be happy - Angels didn't do anything big. I love it. So...we get thrown inside a lot. Over/Under on how many times Gomez charges the mound lol.

The underrated aspect of this trade is that we are going to get daily interviews from Carlos Gomez in the middle of a heated pennant race. I sincerely doubt it gets any better than that. CAN'T WAIT!
What made Hamels have a change of heart? Reports said Stros had a deal.. and Cole reneged. Dude changed his mind b-style. Adding another SP, one of our starters will likely end up in the bully? It won't be a lefty like some here wanted though.
Glad they didn't trade VV or Reed. McCullers shouldn't even be in the discussion. If Reds/Padres didn't want Appel for their closer, then so be it. Our bullpen is in good shape as it is.
