Can't. MLB changed the rule on that so Bregman isn't able to be traded in any form until after the WS.
Not sure when it was changed, but they have to wait until after the season. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Y'all, this is the new rule on drafted players. Bregman cannot be dealt and cannot be PTBNL - <a href="http://t.co/yPPWa7L02J">http://t.co/yPPWa7L02J</a></p>— Aaron Ashcraft (@Aarcraft9) <a href="https://twitter.com/Aarcraft9/status/627143383820148736">July 31, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
yea I'd be ok with Bregman being dealt..we're locked in the middle infield for quite some time, and Moran/Davis hopefully will helm 3B in the near future.
He's not eligible to be traded until the day after WS concludes. All PTBNLs must be eligible when trade is completed.
Cotillo confirms. Stores really must have a good offer out there. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Can confirm DBacks' talks for Chapman are dead.</p>— Chris Cotillo (@ChrisCotillo) <a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisCotillo/status/627193044849311745">July 31, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I guess whoever wants to budge first wins. I'm sure Reds are tired of Chapman closing games for them. Tanking away. Last minute deal. The fact the Dbacks went radio silent suggest we came in with the better offer.
Appel isn't overpowering guys in the minors. I think he will be a decent 3 or 4 guy in a few years. His value isn't what it was.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Reds?src=hash">#Reds</a> are talking to everyone it seems, even themselves... <a href="https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing">@awfulannouncing</a> <a href="http://t.co/yv3ukg9k8H">pic.twitter.com/yv3ukg9k8H</a></p>— Chris Watts (@cwatts78) <a href="https://twitter.com/cwatts78/status/627193380229873664">July 31, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
They keep talking about how Arizona was offering 3 of their top 10. But the top one, Shipley, is barely a top 100 overall and would be about 8th in our system. So we are likely looking at one of two senarios 1) We have Appel on the table, who is more highly thought of than Shipley, along with maybe a couple of our 25-30 guys who overall would be about like the others Arizona was offering or 2) We are offering a package of guys starting with Fiers, then guys in the Kemp range
And that caps this year's trade deadline as officially and literally the craziest trade deadline week in the history of the MLB.
Reed is a controllable piece who is on pace to be our starting 1B next year at the latest. He's our only minor leaguer with a clear, relatively imminent path to providing big league help. It's ok to not want him moved. I wouldn't give him up in any of these trades, and I think chances are slim to none that the FO is willing to either. He's currently their biggest ticket to unclogging the clusterfck that is our 1B position.
